Today we’d like to introduce you to Cold Culture. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Cold Culture is a West Coast Emo band based out of Southern California. Cold Culture was established in 2016 by Zendry Dare (Zen) and is joined by band members AJ Day (Bass), Lonzo (Drums) and Xavier Rodriguez (Guitar). Together, they have carved a unique sound using influences from Midwest Emo, Modern Indie Alternative, and 00s Pop Punk. The band released their debut album titled “Functioning In Society” on all streaming platforms on October 13th, 2022. The album highlights the importance of mental health and the daily struggles of “fitting in” to the society we live in. Today, Cold Culture has been highly active in touring and has new content set to release in 2023 and all throughout 2024.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. There are always going to be challenges along any great journey though. A lot of our struggles would include restructuring and defining who we are as a band. We have had members come and go but have always maintained a welcoming environment. Now that we have a structure that is strong, we are confident that our growth will only continue from here on out.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

Collectively we are proud we have toured the west coast this year and are planning our own midwest tour set to happen in the summer of 2024. We are also proud of the new content we are putting out and truly excited for this next batch of songs to be released already. “Sleepless Nights” was the last single we put out this year in September and it has been accepted by many. It truly has been humbling to receive positive feedback and to be asked, “When is the next song dropping”.
Aside from our unique sounds, our ambition is what sets us aside from others. We are constantly thinking of what’s next, openly talking about our goals, and finding ways to ensure we meet these goals. Another way that sets us aside from others is we are very family-like. In any setting, people have always made that comment about us due to our chemistry with one another. While the band is a way for us to express ourselves creatively, we gained a family out of it.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
SHOUT OUT TO ANDI for being our number-one fan, merch guy, and for being our fifth Beatle. They have truly supported us through the worst of it but always manage to lift our spirits up when needed. Not to mention, they help us on stage and off, making sure everything is running as smoothly as possible.
We also want to thank Jonathan from Audio Mech for taking us under his wing as a baby band and guiding us along the way. He has always pointed us in the right direction. He has always wanted us to succeed. Not to mention none of our songs would have been possible without him as he has been our engineer since 2018.
We also want to thank the local scene for welcoming us in with open arms. Without the support of bands, friends, and fans, we would not exist. It has been amazing to be artists of and we are excited to continue to grow in this community.
