Hi Curtis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Kart1 has been an ever-growing local company in the complete turn-key go kart solutions. Moving to Carlsbad in 2015, Kart1 has grown from supporting only a few local karting tracks, to now more than 350 go kart facilities worldwide. Kart1 distributes the industry leading OTL brand Electric go kart. Starting in 1996. OTL has been the innovator in electric go kart technology. Fast forward to now, we also design and distribute full multilevel go kart tracks and equipment and our range of products have grown! From our new Bambino kart for young racers as little as 3 years old, all the way to our E Pro Kart for the more professional outdoor enthusiasts. Some of our long time customers included local San Diego staples such as K1 Speed in Carlsbad, Downtown San Diego, and Chula Vista. We take a new entrepreneur’s dreams and make them reality with quality Italian products and outstanding customer support and service.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to the growth of Kart1 has been challenging to grow in size and offer the same support. We stand by the motto that we are not a supplier for our customers, but a lifetime partner for their business. With every rising interest rates, global tariff, and during the pandemic, it was extremely difficult to carry out new customer’s dreams and support local entrainment businesses’ as you can imaging. Most of our customers have committed their entire life savings for their karting track and we are committed to keep their business open and running. We stood right by their side and supported all of our customer to make it through those times. Now with our current team, we have entered more markets and concepts that we could have imagined with the partnership mentality in mind.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As having a background in metal fabrication and starting as a technical support associate/track designer, I was able to visit countless customers around the world from the concept to creation phases. During the installation process I was able to experience a glimpse of their day to day lives, their families, and really feel the passion for their business. I truly valued a relationship of trust and commitment during and after the go kart track installation. I did not only leave with a satisfied customer and a new successful karting business, but a long term friend and business owner for years to come with trust and confidence as the core. This mentality and culture has spread to our entire company and attributes to our success today!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Being based in Carlsbad, I tell our clients that we are blessed with sunny and 75, 365. They usually get a laugh at that, unless its said during an installation in the winter in New York! Then its bragging! San Diego county specifically is truly one of a kind. I have travel all around the world, and yet still, there is no place like Southern California and all its offerings.
