Today we’d like to introduce you to Daija Little.
Hi Daija, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Daija Little and I am the owner of Build Fitness Personal Training and Nutrition Services where we work with busy professionals and working mothers who need to prioritize their fitness and nutrition goals without sacrificing time spent with families or building their careers. Since graduating from James Madison University in 2020, I have been passionately pursuing my career in the health and fitness industry. With certifications in personal training, CPR, nutrition, and fitness coaching, I am dedicated to helping individuals transform their lives through a balanced lifestyle. My journey started as an independent virtual trainer and has evolved into professionally training clients in the DMV area. I am inspired by the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and have identified a growing demand for health and fitness services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves immersed in the whirlwind of opportunities and obstacles that come with the territory. Through my own journey, I’ve come to realize the importance of balancing our work commitments with personal well-being. It’s not just about hustling harder; it’s about hustling smarter. A well-rested mind and body are the strongest assets we can possess in our pursuit of excellence.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder of Build Fitness, a coaching brand and community designed to help women build strength, confidence, and long-term lifestyle change through intentional training and nutrition. I specialize in strength training, fat loss, and creating sustainable routines that empower women both physically and mentally.
What I’m known for is creating a safe, supportive space where women feel seen, whether that’s in a private group session, a one-on-one check-in, or through my online programs. My approach isn’t just about reps and macros, it’s about mindset, consistency, and helping clients show up for themselves even when life gets messy.
What I’m most proud of is the real impact Build Fitness has had. I’ve watched women transform not just their bodies, but their belief in what they’re capable of. That kind of progress hits different, and it’s why I do this work.
What sets me apart is my ability to meet clients where they are, without fluff or gimmicks. I mix science-backed strategy with real-life flexibility, and I lead with intention, not ego. Whether I’m training in person or coaching online, I’m committed to helping women build, not just physically, but from the inside out.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Build Fitness wouldn’t be what it is without the people who’ve supported, guided, and poured into me along the way. First and foremost, my clients have been a constant source of inspiration. Their trust, consistency, and commitment have pushed me to keep growing…not just as a coach, but as a business owner and leader.
I’ve also been blessed with incredible mentors and advocates who believed in me before I had all the answers. Dorian Cunion, my SCORE mentor, has been instrumental in helping me navigate the business side of things with clarity and confidence. The Women’s Business Center of Central Virginia has provided tools, resources, and opportunities that helped me take bold steps forward. Ericka J Fitness showed me that it’s possible to run a fitness business with purpose, presence, and power, and I’m grateful for her example and encouragement. And Darryl Ellis at DNA Fitness Studios gave me space, mentorship, and real talk during a pivotal time in my journey.
This has never been a solo mission. Build Fitness was built on community, alignment, and the belief that with the right support, women can create something truly transformative, not just in the gym, but in life.
