Conversations with Danielle Mancino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Mancino.

Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I purchased my first real camera 15 years ago. My niece was a baby and I took photos of her for every milestone or vision I had. It makes me laugh thinking of all the photo shoots my SIL and I put together. Pinterest was big back then haha. I was working in real estate at the time and wanted to pursue a photography career, but thought it was too good to be true. I shared my nieces photos and word began to spread. I started shooting anything I could. Through word of mouth my little business took off. All these years later, my business has come so far and I couldn’t be more thankful. Forever growing and evolving, but exactly where I’m supposed to be.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any business, there are struggles. Photography is a lot of trial and error. Many issues you don’t know how to resolve until you’ve experienced them. There were definitely times (early on) that I felt I should just give up. One of the issues I see photographers struggle with the most is comparison. There is so much at our fingertips with social media. I often hear photographers struggling when they scroll because they love another creatives work and feel pulled in that direction. When I’m mentoring photographers, my biggest goal is to get their work to a place where they are confidant in their style. There are so many incredible photographers out there and a million different beautiful styles, but it’s so important to be exactly who you are. Being your authentic self is what sets you apart. Don’t forget that.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in family photography. The big moments and especially the little moments. Little fingers laced with Moms, an eye peeking over Dad’s shoulder, siblings racing down a dirt road. I love it all. From engagements to maternity to extended family. The more chaos, the better. I’m really proud of where I am today. I know exactly what I love to shoot and I’m okay with saying no to work that isn’t for me. There is something so freeing about reaching the point in your career as a creative where you are confidant in your art. It took some time on this journey to get there, but the growith has been well worth it. Being secure in my style and work makes business so much easier because I’m confidant in what I have to offer. I know my 20 year old self would be really proud of how far I’ve come.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
