Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrian Young.
Hi Darrian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started playing pickleball when I was 18 at Bobby Riggs Tennis Club. I taught lessons and worked in the front shop for 2 years, where I figured out I wanted to play professional pickleball. I traveled to Florida from California in 2021 to play the World Pickleball Championships, and I won, becoming a World Champion in Pickleball. Once that happened, I fully dived into pickleball, making it my full-time job and training on and off the court. I joined the APP/MLP Tour for the 2022/2023 seasons, where I was able to win titles in both, and signed with PPA for the 2024 through 2026 seasons, where I have already collected various medals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, it’s been a pretty smooth road. I get to do what I love for a living, which is playing pickleball, traveling, and kicking it with friends on the road, so to complain about that would be tough to digest.

I play professional pickleball as well as I am involved in Real Estate, and stocks. I also have a podcast called Conversations With DJ, so I am a people person
How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck; life loves speed, and I just take action. The more you do, the more good things happen. The less you do, the opposite. Take action
