Conversations with Dimos Stamatelos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dimos Stamatelos.

Hi Dimos, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started working in the music industry as a Dj and producer, and it was more of a hobby than a job. A hobby that was actually taking up all of my free time. So, at some point, I thought, “What if music was my only job?” And I started talking about it with friends, and no one was really convinced that someone residing in my country could make a living out of it. It took a lot of hard work, personal time, and determination to get to the point where I am today, and this is an ongoing thing; it will never stop.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy, and it has its ups and downs all the time. And unlike 9-5 jobs, you have to work longer hours and sacrifice a lot of your time as you usually spend it alone in the studio or without your beloved ones when away for gigs. After all, the music industry is a highly competitive world, and you need to try pretty hard to just be part of it, let alone succeed in it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My Main work is running my labels (Erase Records, Tropical Heat) and producing my music. We specialize on Tech House, House music, and Afro House music.

In 2013, we were awarded the best Disco Track of the year in WMC and that made us really proud.

After that, we smashed Beaport’s Charts with 2 Number 1 and many big tracks with support from the biggest Worldwide DJs!

Our Identity is Dancefloor orientated music for DJs and party People!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The best mentor is your heart. You need to be yourself and be happy with what you do. Apart from that, finding partners that share similar dreams and follow similar principles constitutes a solid foundation towards moving up the ladder of success.
