Today we’d like to introduce you to Dinorah Schz
Hi Dinorah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always a bit of a loner, which probably pushed me to get creative. Not totally sure if that’s why, but over time, I realized I had a serious thing for visuals. Back in high school, I was always using a Polaroid camera. I thought it was just a normal thing to do—like having a cellphone today—but it turned out not many people used them. It wasn’t until after I graduated that I decided to dive into a photography and developing workshop. At some point, I realized this was what I really loved. I knew it was related to the arts, but I didn’t have anything super specific in mind.
When I chose to study art, I remember telling my professor I was there to learn more because it really interested me. I knew it wasn’t the most practical choice for a future career, though.
I never expected my degree to offer financial stability, but I did trust that it was something I was passionate about. Now, I’m all in on photography. I run two Etsy shops, create visual content for social media, and get involved in indie events. I’m still learning and taking workshops on different types of photography, like astrophotography.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It wasn’t easy because of my personality, but today I’m super grateful to be managing the project I’m in. Honestly, if it hadn’t been for a workshop I attended, I wouldn’t be where I am now. That day, I met a great friend who helped me apply for the position I have now. He’s also a photographer with experience in events, and when big events come up, he invites me to work with him. This allows me to gain experience in different types of photography since I primarily focus on portraits.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve always loved portrait photography, but these days, I specialize in product photography. I do model shoots at my studio in Tijuana, Mexico. I’m part of the visual content for two Etsy shops called Vivominimalist and Jewelry Hills. Every day, I learn with my team to help grow these businesses, and I’d say it’s the project of my life. Even though the journey has its ups and downs, I’m confident in seeing what I do with photography continue to grow from my passion.
What were you like growing up?
I was always super insecure and kind of a shy person who lacked the confidence to act or speak up. It wasn’t too long ago that I realized I needed to grow professionally and truly embrace my role as a photographer. I found out that attitude really matters in everything—work, family, and personal life. Keeping a positive mindset has helped me believe in myself and all that I can offer. Actions done with love always reflect who you are, and I try to be mentally healthy and stable.
