Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden Gedj.
Hi Eden, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was young, I really like jewellery. I would stare at it in wonder, wondering how the artist made this beautiful object. On one of my trips around the world, I was in New Zealand, selling macrame jewelry at the local market, and so I continue to travel and move from destination to destination. Along the way, I met interesting people, learned about different types of gemstones and most importantly, did something that I really like. When I got back home I knew I want to learn more how to work with metal, and to make jewelry with traditional techniques. And so it happened, I signed to goldsmith school.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No….. when you’re a student, there can be a load of projects, but you have guidance an support and you’re teachers, along the way. In the real life you need to be
“ one woman show”:
I am the designer, I am the maker, I am the presenter.
I always ask myself what kind of brand I am building ?
what the type of audience I am addressing?
In a way it’s a process of building a professional identity, so it’s step by step.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am very versatile in terms of style. My inspiration can come from interesting shapes in nature, from different historical periods, or from an inner feeling that wants to be expressed. I work with silver sterling or 14k gold, something I like to combine with gemstones or wax cords…
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Any financial investment, whether it’s buying new materials or building a website, is a risk, but I believe in myself that I’m doing something good, that makes people happy… I work hard to make dream come true
