Conversations with Ellie Ferdowsi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Ferdowsi.

Hi Ellie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was sitting in the Chicago airport scrolling through photos after another fun weekend of exploration and eats and thought, “hmm, my entire camera roll is FOOD, so what better place to keep a journal, than Instagram”… Instagram was so new back then and it wasn’t the platform it is today (you remember Valencia filter *wink, wink*), so starting a foodie page was purely for fun with no agenda of what it can become, or better yet, what the influencer scene could become. From there, I started thinking of handles for my account, and my first thought was “foodforthought” – just picked it out of the air! Since that handle was taken, @foodthoughtsforall was born! I’ve always loved discovering new restaurants and new activities around town, so this was the perfect hobby. At first, it wasn’t anything more than a journal of food I’ve tried in my home town Minneapolis and while traveling, but after moving to San Diego in December 2018, the real journey started. The San Diego and SoCal food scene is something to be put on display. I’ve had such an incredible journey meeting such amazing people with my same passion and discovering all the best of San Diego. I look forward to seeing what becomes of my account, @foodthoughtsforall.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely became a challenge once the influencer food scene started expanding. Coming up with new ideas and keeping up with all the app updates and new apps, like TikTok. Short videos are where the platforms are heading, so it’s become a challenge learning new video editing skills and creating unique content that stands out. But even with all the struggles and changes, it is quite rewarding and worth it all!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Funny enough, my line of work is quite different than the social media scene. I have worked in the pharmacy field since I was 16 and have transitioned through a few roles with a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM). When I’m not creating content or visiting a restaurant, I am conducting audits or in meetings. I specialize in Medicare audits, claim analysis, and all that pharmacy insurance entails. I am very much proud of being able to have both sides of a professional career and a hobby that brings me such amazing opportunities! Being that I started out so small and with a goal of wanting to promote businesses and try new foods, I think my experiences and content relate to the audience in being raw and genuine.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and for most, my followers! At the end of the day, social media platforms are about engagement and following, so their support is truly where credit is deserved. And secondly, my fellow influencers, I’ve met so many amazing people and all are so supportive of each other, and I’ve learned so much!
