Today we’d like to introduce you to Emerson (Echo) Acevedo
Hi Emerson, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Birmingham Alabama on 7-7-2007, but raised in Chicago IL. During my time lived in Chicago my father had moved on from our family, he went to live alone to pursue his dreams of being a country singer. In the time that he was gone I witnessed several shootings, some involving close friends. I use music to heal me and find the rose atop the thorns. It brought and still brings me into a sense of belonging, ripping me out of the harsh reality of life, and gently setting me down upon a bed of hope then rapping me in a protective blanket of perseverance. Fast forward about five years, we had moved to San Bernardino California due to violence, my safty and family bonds. I was then placed in a behavioral health facility in Utah, were I picked up the guitar and started a whole new path on my musical journey. When I was released about 3 and a half later I decided to put a song out. The song was called Time Alone. it has touched just about ever persons heart that had listened to it! And that’s all I want with my music, to help ppl grow on from there struggles, rather than find a new way to lay in it. Fun fact about me, I do all my music from my room. Some of my morals are do not spent a dime on music or the equipment I use for creating more music, unless I earn the money to do so off my music. I only write about personal experiences, and how I have learned to grow from them. My last moral, and the most important one is, relations over business! I will put family and friends over my music everyday. If they have a struggle and I have to chose music or them…100% of the time it will be them!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been easy, I have struggled very much mentally, physically and emotionally. Weather that be from trauma or being torn anpart from my family or gun violence or from writers block and money, but with that said and done, I still can persevere.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a musician, I have gotten my first song I put out on the radio at 17 years of age. I play the guitar, I make everything myself from my room. I started collage early. I am in collage for music production.
