Today we’d like to introduce you to Endo Sol.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Josue (me the guitarist) and Miguel (the bassist) first met in kindergarten. We first got interested in playing instruments when Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock came out around 2008. We would play Guitar Hero 3 day and night and eventually convinced our parents to buy us instruments. We played our first show when we were 13, but our first band did not last long since Miguel and I went to two different High Schools.
Fast forward to 2014, Miguel and I began attending the same University and decided to revamp the band again as Endo Sol. The band went through a number lineup changes throughout the years, but it did not stop us from playing many shows throughout San Diego. After we released our debut album “When You Go” in 2019, the band was able to solidify their lineup: Josue Rodriguez, Miguel Zamora, Erik De Haro, and Christian Peralta. Miguel and Peralta were actually in the same soccer team in High School, and Peralta was playing drums with his other band who are also our good friends. Peralta’s tasty and tight drumming takes the band to the next level. Erik was introduced to us from one our previous members who was going to college with him. Erik’s uniqueness and intimate vocals put the cherry on top and bring Endo Sol to life. We are currently working on recording our second album, and have been playing shows in San Diego. We are super excited to show people our new material.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for us, but you know, that’s how life goes and you keep pressing on. After being in the band for a number of years, our original singer Kyle moved to India to accomplish his other endeavors. Additionally, Miguel and I were attending University and we were focusing on getting our degrees. I remember at some point, I was studying so much that I would only go out once a week. On top of that, when we did have free time, we would be out and about with our friends. As much as we love music and writing it, we also love living life to the fullest doing other things. I think the biggest obstacle for me is recording music. I am definitely a person that does not believe that you have to spend a lot of money at a studio to get a good sound. I actually think it’s a lot more organic and intimate when you record and produce your own music. The issue is actually sitting down and doing it is not so much fun and is a lot of work. At the end of the day, we keep pushing through to keep playing and recording because we love music and creating it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a four piece band and our goal is to create music that reflects our lives and our experiences. I would describe our sound as “Independent” since at this point our music is a mix of genres and is still evolving. I think we are known for our dark/Spanish sound, but our new material will say otherwise. We are most proud of our many years of friendship and our ability to come together and connect musically, and connect outside of music. Our friendship, life experiences, personalities, and influences all bleed through our music and that is what brings it to life. The band could not exist if we all weren’t good friends. When we started the band, the goal was to create music with close friends, and we are currently accomplishing that goal. I think that is what sets us apart from other bands, the fact that we are all really good friends and that is reflected through our music and our performance. It’s almost like the music is a product of our friendship and the good times that we have. There is a song in the new album named after our friend group, and was written after the fun experiences that we had in 2021.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people might not know about us is that we all have very different musical influences. I am inspired by artists such as Gold Necklace, CHON, Pearl Jam, Death, and Hi-NRG. Miguel is inspired by artists such as Metallica, Last Dinosaurs, The Growlers, Rush, and Stick Figure. Peralta is influenced by artists such as Ty Segall, King Gizzard, MF DOOM, Earl Sweatshirt, and Ariel Pink. Erik is inspired by artists such as Heilung, L’Arc-en-Ciel, Jenevieve, Olafur Arnolds, and Code Orange.
