Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Palacio.
Hi Francisco, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a thing for photography, during my last year studying architecture in Monterrey, I had the opportunity to work in an architectural and interior photography studio called The Raws, that opened up my career path. I was in my senior year and I applied for an internship, there is where I learned all the ropes about photography in that specific field. I then graduated and continued working for them until I realized that where I’m from nobody did this, that is when I came back to Baja California to start freelancing in the same area, 3 years have gone by and I now have my own client portfolio and working on starting a new studio with my old boss here in Baja, I also freelance for a real estate company and work as a photo editor in Volt Creative Studio located in Little Italy.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting up was is not easy, especially when you have a portfolio to work on and connect with people in a place where you haven’t been in more than 5 years. Getting to know architects and finding clients was not as easy as I thought it would be. also, in the cities between CA and BC are no less than 1 hour from each other making my life feel like a nomad, staying at a friend’s place in one city or with your parents in another. and maybe the toughest obstacle to go through is being able to share your work to the world and not overthinking about it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in architectural and interior photography; I’m known for documenting the psychology of spaces and making the spectator feel what the architect was trying to convey in his design. More importantly, capture the architects’ main goals of design.
I’m most proud of how my work has shown me that I have what it takes to continue on this path I have chosen, being one self’s critic can be hard most of the time, and being able to prove to myself that my work and talent is worthy of sharing with others especially helping and showing others who are starting in the world of photography.
What sets me apart from others is the time I dedicate to each of my clients, getting to know their necessities and being able to portray their constructions as they envisioned them, my pictures are for architects, taken by an architect.
What makes you happy?
The Outdoors! Being able to strip away from all the modern world commodities and just rest while being part of this beautiful planet, we’re all from, knowing that nature and universe will provide with the rest. Let’s me recharge up, restructure my thoughts and continue working harder.
