Conversations with Glympse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glympse. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Paul (drums) and Nate (guitar) met when they were both approached to be in an earlier band when they were in their early 20s. Both found success in their early bands and even though those early bands parted ways, they always kept in contact and formed Glympse with Mo (vocals/keys) in 2020. Mo is Nate’s brother in law and they would always play music at family gatherings and had an immediate click with writing music together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Between the three of us, it has always been smooth but we had some lineup changes that were rough. We’re still on the search for a bass player that would be the perfect fit. Also, with everything covid related, it’s been a little tough to get everything going smoothly in general with shows and recording. but we are recording two brand new songs in February that should be out by spring at the latest 🙂 so we’re very excited for that.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Of course, our first passion/love is music and hope to be able to focus solely on that venture one day…but we gotta pay the bills. Nate is a radiology technologist, Paul is a professional vert skateboarder, and Mo is a registered nurse.

What were you like growing up?
Nate (guitar) – I was honestly really into sports. Mostly basketball, volleyball and soccer. I was a pretty calm kid. I was social but kept to myself a lot and that’s when I fell in love with playing guitar when I was by myself.

Paul (drums) – I’ve been skateboarding and playing drums from roughly eight years of age. The two activities always went hand in hand in terms of creativity and having an outlet. I was painfully shy growing up so playing music was an easier way to make new friends at school and helped me find a like-minded community wherever I was situated.

Mo (vocals/keys) – definitely leaned towards the shy type as a kid but I was heavily into sports, particularly basketball. Was always surrounded by music but didn’t build up enough courage/ confidence to teach myself piano until I was 17. At that point, I was big on making beats and met others who were into the same interests.
