Today we’d like to introduce you to Grazelle LaRue.
Hi Grazelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
For as long as I can remember, ocean life has always been so intriguing to me! When I was in elementary school, I would go onto different zoos’ websites just to watch their live streams of various marine animals. I also grew up going to the beach and camping there during summers. Every school project I have done I have always chosen the ocean or a marine animal as my topic. My passion for the ocean has always stuck with me. In high school, I especially focused on ocean conservation and why the ocean is so important to human life. I talk about the topic in hopes of getting others to care because that’s when changes start to happen! I have started posting on Instagram and creating YouTube videos to hopefully expand my audience and share with others what I learn about different species that live in the ocean. I also try to educate my audience on why we need to keep the ocean healthy. To widen the variety of people that I reach, I also include fashion into my Instagram because not only have I always loved the ocean, I have also always loved clothes! I hope to introduce the idea of ocean conservation to fans of fashion that might not have thought of our impact on the ocean before. In the future, I might try to create a business that reduces ocean pollution, but right now, I am just trying to make as many people interested in the ocean as I can!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A struggle I have is getting others to care. Many people don’t take the time to acknowledge our difficulties with keeping the ocean alive. Many people also don’t know that over 50% of our oxygen comes from the ocean. The importance of the ocean to human life should be more well known. Through the platform I am growing, I desire to give my audience knowledge about marine life and an awareness to major issues we are facing today.

I create YouTube videos and Instagram posts where I talk about specific marine species and other various information about the ocean. I also like to post cool photos I have taken and outfits that I have put together. I think what sets my platforms apart is the fact that I focus on two different topics. I have fashion and the ocean. I am proud that I am trying to share my knowledge for the better while also being creative.

It is always best to take care of the things you love. Any small steps to help reduce our pollution is worth it! There are so many biodegradable/eco-friendly alternatives to everyday things we use! Being mindful to our environment benefits everybody!
