Conversations with Hannah Guy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Guy.

Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
As a little girl, I always had a pencil in my hand. I had drawn hundreds of random objects as kid! People, characters, and animals. I was about 8 years old when I submitted my first painting in a local coffee shop in my hometown, in Texas. That very moment I had discovered my talent, and that was to make people happy with my artwork! The best feeling is when you look at your commissioner, and joyful grin glides across their face! I set down roots and started my advertising. I didn’t have much pull in the world of art other than just being your average cute 8-year-old girl! As I got older, I doubted my artwork. Did people really think I had a talent? Are they just trying to support a local girl they knew? I let those things drive me to be precise and very detailed with my art. Years went on, and the demand of portraits and pet paintings only grew! I started a Facebook page dedicated to my side hustles and have advertised in other ways. Order after order came in! It was bringing people joy to see their pet painted by hand. A grandchild’s joyful face sketched on paper made a grandmother’s heart leap. Or lost loved ones remembered by having a portrait drawn in their memory. As time went along, I found my one and only love! Eventually, I realized due to his career. I would have to make the biggest move of my life, and that was to move 22 hours away from my hometown. All the roots that had grown from my small business were about to cease. With new surroundings come new opportunities! I have already had the chance to make a few local Californians happy, and that was worth it. While I’m here, I intend to make people’s hearts light up with joy as they see something they treasure memorialized on paper or canvas! I can’t wait see where this new journey takes me in the world of working with art!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finding ways to get my name out there has definitely not been easy. The internet is so overloaded with worthless things it’s hard to squeeze in worthwhile options! The biggest hurdle was moving. I felt like I was starting from scratch.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I worked in my high-school years at Chick-Fil-A during my high school years. After two years, I moved on to a better opportunity. I am now a remote operations manager for a booming storage company! Being that I moved away, I was able to keep my job and work from home. Customer service to another form of customer service! I have had steady-paying jobs for almost 4 years now. I am proud I do not give up on what I’ve been given to do. If there is something to figure out, you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll figure out how to do it. I believe every second has opportunity has for growth. Every moment has a slot for you to improve! I am very determined in my work to satisfy and show my ethic. Anyone you ask about my work ethic will she’s very determined and gets things done.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
My Honest answer is it depends on what time of the month it is! I can be a bit of daredevil. There are days I will go brave the wilderness by trampling through the dark woods to sit and wait for a harvestable deer or float underneath the moonlight to catch the biggest fish out there. Then there are days I’d rather just sit at home and watch baby animals on Netflix. I’d say I’m by far better taking physical risks than personal risks. You know what though, with every risk there is a challenge, and once the challenge has been conquered, you feel the high of accomplishment. Even if you fail, you know you tried and did not shrink to the privilege.
