Conversations with Jacqueline Macias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Macias.

Hi Jacqueline, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m 21 years old, married and have a one-year-old toddler. I’m originally from El Paso, Tx but my husband got stationed in San Diego, CA and here I am a stay at home mom. My love for makeup started about four years ago when I noticed I was capable of doing more than just wearing lipgloss and putting some mascara on. I first started posting makeup looks in 2018, I was fresh out of high school and had time to do my makeup just for the fun of it. In 2019, I created a makeup page in Facebook called “Beauty & Glam With Jacqueline” I remember I used to post simple looks twice a week and also going live several times a month. I wasn’t really constant; I would post for a few months then one month not post at all. I was not confident enough to continue, then 2020 came and I got pregnant.

When I was pregnant at first, I was doing makeup looks but then due date was getting close and I didn’t had enough energy so I completely stopped posting. One year passed and in 2021, I started once again but this time I created an account on TikTok (jacquiee12) and started posting tutorials. I cleaned up my Instagram and started focusing more on just makeup, by using hashtags and posting more constantly I started to gain more followers. Slowly but surely, my page was growing and I was getting excited and more confident on myself. 2022 came and I said to myself that this year was the one. The one I wouldn’t stop posting, the one I would put my effort in from now on. I’ve grown so much in my makeup looks and I hope I keep doing so. My work is paying off, I finally can say I’ve had many collaborations, and I hope one day I can work with the big companies like Morphe, Fentybeauty, UltaBeauty and more. I’m thankful of my husband for taking care of us and giving me that time to focus on what I want to do. My goal is becoming a professional MUA and being able to call myself an Influencer. All I can say to myself is the key is staying consistent and one day, my wishes will come true with my own effort.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, I struggle on staying consistent. I got pregnant and used the excuse of I can’t, I’m tired. Also at first, i wouldn’t like my makeup looks and I would just stop.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I do is Makeup on myself to help others learn on how to do eyeshadow looks or even on how to apply foundation. I post different looks to give ideas and tutorials to help the ones that don’t know where to start. I’m known for my eyeshadow and body art. I’m most proud of staying consistent and helping others how to feel good about themselves on wearing makeup. I’m here to help and also continue learning.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
What helps me get creative and get ideas is Pinterest and Instagram explore pages. Picsart is one of my main editing sources.
