Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Alex.
Hi Jason, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I became interested in music in elementary school. I started off with learning a variety of instruments including violin, saxophone, and piano. Soon as I graduated to middle school, I joined band and played percussion for 3 years. Learning new instruments, reading music, and having an ear for music came to me naturally at an early age. Both of my parents were in the music industry their entire life. My dad being a guitarist, sound engineer, and producer, and my mother was the lead singer of a successful band. I first discovered dance music in middle school from artists such as Deadmau5, Moby, and Fatboy Slim. I started attending music festivals and events to see these artists perform live. The music made such an impact on my life that I decided from that moment that I wanted to start producing my own dance music in 2009.
Over the years since then, I’ve produced music alongside of some of today’s industry-leading house music producers. In 2010 My friend Chris and I created a DJ duo called Sadies Bens. After we signed our first record deal with Plasmapool Records, our music quickly climbed the charts, and our debut track “I’m Gonna Lick it” climbed to the #1 spot for many weeks on the top 10 house tracks on Beatport.com.
In 2015 I went to school for music and I finished several professional certificates in the fields of audio engineering and production. Around this time is when I decided on my new solo artist name, CASHCULT. After years of producing music through trial and error, I began to finally get noticed and gain traction, with several of my songs topping charts as well as accumulating thousands of plays on digital music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. I currently perform at a variety of events and San Diego nightclubs including; Nova, Hard Rock, Bloom, Avenue, and many others. At this point in my career, there is now slowing down for me. The sky is the limit
I’ve recently just released my first EP named “BREAK IT” out on Breakroom Records, a San Diego-based record label. You can find the EP on all major streaming platforms! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you on the dancefloor.
“Mixing groovy, with clean, tech house & bass house music, CASHCULT’s unique sound emerges among the new wave of house producers. Refusing to impersonate his idols, but instead taking inspiration, CASHCULT aims for something different and unheard of.
Releasing his songs officially through Zerocool Records, Backroom Records, and Angry Dog Records, CASHCULT has quickly become an up-and-coming dance and house music artist. His first single, Freedom, was released via Zerocool Records and quickly climbed the charts. We are excited to see what’s to come with CASHCULT “
