Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Peaslee.
Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
We are a family-run restaurant with two locations. One in La Jolla and one in Encinitas. Worked for numerous great restaurants in town and when in college. Done every type of work in the restaurants (busser, cook, server, bartending, manager). Always wanted to own a restaurant. My hobbies are surfing and cycling. Mom was a talker, and so am I. I have a strong desire to make guests and staff feel appreciated.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles in life; you have to always put one foot in front of the other.
-keeping staff happy
-what if no-one came to eat at the restaurant one day, that is why you have to do your best always
-Covid
-administrative work
-keeping a balance with family life
-making a profit is hard
-not seeming arrogant but being confident
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have always been very prideful of my work. I think that is one of my strongest traits. Being prideful and sincere will get you far in life. People know I care and will do my best.
I am very open; I want people to actually know who I am.
I am most proud of how great my children are. Both are very respectful, sincere, empathetic, caring, smart, driven, and like their parents.
Our restaurants are known for great service and amazing food with a super cute ambiance. What sets us apart is always service with a real smile. Our staff is very happy, and we have 20+ year employees who are appreciated.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I have always been a nice and respectful person. I was a good student that teachers liked. I have a large family with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was athletic but didn’t do a lot of organized sports. I found surfing at a young age, and that has been one of the driving forces in my life. To travel and find great waves. I have been able to spend a lot of time in different places of the world doing that, and it has made me see that there is a large world out there. With lots of opinions, personalities, and cultures. All are different but great.
