Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Lentz.
Hi Jordan , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started tattooing almost 9 years ago in Chicago, IL. I have since worked at several studios including private studio environments where I’ve gotten the chance to meet many incredible clients and build my portfolio of work! I have an art background and received my bachelor of fine arts from the School of the Art Institute back in 2014, where I became increasingly interested in scientific illustration, which I have been influenced greatly in my tattoo work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road and sometimes I’m still shocked I actually tattoo for a living. Once I walked away from a toxic apprenticeship environment I had many more art related jobs, often with many side hustles to make a living. I started tattooing on my own and it’s been a constant grind ever since running my own small business!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am probably know as the crazy dog lady at this point, ha! I have been doing foster and rescue work for almost 10 years now and I continue to foster dogs and bottle feed puppies while tattooing many of the amazing people I’ve met in the rescue and dog world. I’d say I do a good number of dog portrait tattoos as well as other beloved pets and animals. I love it, but I also do a lot more subject matters usually focused on more nature/science themes. I’m super proud of the rescue community I’m a part of and only hope I can continue to advocate for dogs in need with my tattoos and rescue work!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Animals are my biggest joy in life and I love being out in nature with my partner and our 3 dogs.
