Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Luten
Josh, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Photography began as a way to get me outside and stay productive. It also helps my creativity. In the past I pursued music, and played in bands. But photography is now my main creative outlet. It’s become a passion and has helped me develop a sense of purpose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s an ongoing process. But it helps challenge anxieties of public spaces. I really like low key places. But there are times for example where I’ll go to a more public beach and have to face crowds. It’s interesting too because, I’ll be taking photos and I’ll get an occasional odd look by someone nearby or by a security guard depending on the location. But I have to remember that the results are worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I take photos of Southern California landscapes during sunset. I think my editing style has a certain sky aesthetic. Imagine the visuals of the video game Grand Theft Auto but with things like landscapes, beaches, and palm trees. I’ve grown my social media from the ground up reaching heights I never thought possible. I just do my thing and it’s seeming to catch on and connect with people. Every time someone says my work inspires them to visit California or reminds them of when they used to live here; I know that it’s larger than me.
What’s next?
I want my art to reach as many people as possible. There’s already been a lot of opportunities open up. There’s no real game plan though, and I’m open to wherever it takes me.
