Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith “Coach Keith” Hale.
Hi Keith “Coach Keith”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After making to the top as a real estate developer in Newport Beach, Ca. Speck building over 300 of most known properties in town I noticed that I was always feeling like there was a cloud over my head. I didn’t know exactly what was going on but it didn’t feel right. I would often feel very anxious and depressed. At first I thought it was because I was just busy but the more I felt it the most down I felt and all the success in the world wasn’t changing it. As the feelings of depression grew stronger I can remember times when I would just start crying for no reason and I had this overwhelming fear that was over me that I just couldn’t shake. To try and mask how I was feeling I would buy lots of stuff, I think I purchased 8 cars in one year, entire sets of clothes from brands like Vuori. Still no change in how I was feeling. The hardest part of it all I was most afraid to tell anybody how I was feeling in fear that they would see me as weak. I was always taught that men don’t cry and we had to be tough and push through. I can remember the first time I cried on the playground when I was in grade school. I was running, fell and hurt myself. One of the hold boys came over and slapped me and used some choice words and told me to stop being a little B_________! I told myself I would never show weakness again. Until the moment when life just felt unbearable and so overwhelming that I just wanted to end it all, so I tried and by the grace of God it didn’t work and I’m here living my passion and helping others. After writing my bestselling book “Embracing Vulnerability 10 Steps to an Authentic Life” I went back to school and graduated from Co-Active Training Institute and started my practice and trademarked my methodology as a “Self Relationship Coach™” After spending numerous time in counseling that wasn’t effective I started working with a coach that really helped my not only stay accountable but find myself. I knew then I wanted to become a well know coach and help others, especially men because I know there are many that feel the way I did but was afraid to be vulnerable like I was. But vulnerability saved my life and it’s my mission to help as many people as possible men, women and children come to know themselves. Their true and authentic selves not the mask they show the world or the labels they hide behind. Today I help as many people as possible in my one on one practice, I speak on stages about vulnerability and authentic and in my recent Tedx Talk I address men on redefining masculinity through vulnerability.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been really challenging along the way. It hasn’t always been easy to tell my story and to face myself after attempting to end my life by suicide. Coming to grips with that and knowing as I say “Just Because I’m Hurting Doesn’t Mean I’m Weak” and showing the world that men also hurt and have pain and showing that pain makes us brave and not weak as society has us believe. Also working with my children to help them to understand that sometimes we get down in life but it the struggle that makes us stronger in our journey. I never want anybody to believe that ending life is a solution to a problem because it’s not.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Self-Relationship Coach I help others come to know themselves in a way that most never thought possible. The art of self relationship is broken up into parts and framework that I created called the Parts of Us. I work with my clients and challenge them beyond what they currently know or what they know to be possible for themselves and their lives. Getting away from the labels, Mother, Father, Ceo, Athlete, Business Owner. I help my clients dig deep into what they already know but haven’t discovered for themselves yet. Using my intuition and helping my clients come into to theirs. I also use guided meditation to help my client visualize childhood experience’s so they can get to the true essence of themselves, who they are and what they truly want in life.
What set’s me a part from others is: Not only am I highly trained an certified as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach I mastered this on myself working from my own pain, trauma and deep wounds. So I’m not just what you read in a book I’m walking it and living it daily. I’m also very intuitive and I have the ability to know things when connected to my clients that helps them connected to themselves on a deeper level.
What I’m most proud of: Walking through my faith and my belief in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I’ve been able to not only heal myself but I’ve been able to help many clients come into their own knowing which has changed the course of their life forever.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
There are many but the most impactful lesson I’ve learned is:
-Put Jesus christ first in all that you do.
-Being vulnerable is a superpower, not a weakness.
-All humans are naturally creative, resourceful and whole.
-You have to love yourself before you can love anybody else.
-Life is better lived around people you love and love you back.
