Conversations with Kenyatta Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenyatta Williams.

Kenyatta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey by simply asking questions. One day in Miami, I approached a guy who was handing out flyers to some of the hottest clubs in the city. That moment opened the door. From there, I began working with friends on music, learning the industry hands-on and building relationships organically.

In 2017, I took a major step forward by launching my own independent label, 5Star Music Group. By 2019, I officially signed myself to the label as an artist and released the smash hit “Go Ham” featuring G4ss. The record gained heavy traction and turned the name Franchise into a household name in Miami strip clubs.

Wanting to elevate even further, I released my debut EP “2 Sides 2 Every Story.” Although the project didn’t take off the way I envisioned, I stayed consistent and followed it up with another hit, “Next To A Baller” featuring Roxe Karvell. The song was later featured in the movie “Walk With Me,” which is now streaming on Tubi.

Alongside music, I expanded into fashion by launching my clothing brand REUP, which stands for Rise, Elevate, Upgrade, and Prosper. Owning both a music label and a clothing brand has come with its share of highs and lows, but through it all, I’ve remained focused, resilient, and committed to pushing forward in both music and fashion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most independent artists, I’ve faced setbacks, and one of the biggest was releasing an EP that didn’t perform the way I expected. That moment forced me to step back, reevaluate my approach, and really study what was working versus what wasn’t.

Instead of giving up, I responded by locking back in and focusing on singles. That’s when I released “Next To A Baller” and “Bang It Out.” Those records helped me regain momentum, reconnect with my audience, and prove to myself that setbacks don’t define the journey—how you respond to them does.

Every struggle taught me something, and those lessons made me sharper not only as an artist, but as a business owner and creative overall.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a rap artist, I specialize in making music that reflects real life the wins, the losses, and everything in between. My sound blends street authenticity with high-energy records that connect heavily in club culture, especially in strip clubs, while still carrying substance and storytelling. I’m known for creating records that move the room but also represent ambition, hustle, and progression.

I’m most proud of building my career independently. From launching my own label, 5Star Music Group, to releasing songs like “Go Ham,” “Next To A Baller,” and “Bang It Out,” I’ve been able to create momentum without relying on a major machine. Having my music featured in a film and seeing my name become recognizable in Miami’s nightlife scene is something I take real pride in.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just an artist I’m a brand builder. I balance music with entrepreneurship through my clothing brand REUP, which stands for Rise, Elevate, Upgrade, and Prosper. Everything I do is intentional and rooted in growth. I don’t chase trends; I build lanes. My journey, my sound, and my business mindset all reflect that I’m here for longevity, not just moments.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as ownership, impact, and consistency. Success isn’t just about numbers or fame it’s about having control over my music, my brand, and my vision while being able to grow year after year. It’s knowing I can turn setbacks into momentum and still move forward without compromising who I am.

For me, success also means creating opportunities not just for myself, but for others around me through music, business, and culture. Being able to live off what I create, build lasting brands, and leave a legacy that represents growth, resilience, and elevation is the real definition of success.
