Conversations with Korie Younger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Korie Younger.

Korie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Party planning has been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. It all started when I was just five years old, planning my own birthday parties — and not just picking a cake flavor. I was making guest lists, choosing color schemes, and giving my parents clear instructions on decorations and timelines. Even back then, the details mattered to me.

As I grew up, I naturally became the planner in my circle — organizing school events, family gatherings, and later, milestone celebrations for friends. About 20 years ago, I planned my first wedding for a close friend. It was supposed to be a one-time favor, but it sparked something in me. I loved the process, the emotional moments, the beauty, and the logistics. And just like that, one wedding led to another.

At the time, I was still working in the corporate world — but my heart was already somewhere else. After years of juggling both careers, I finally took the leap. In 2013, I joined Bliss Events to turn my lifelong passion into a full-time business. I bring not only an eye for detail and design, but two decades of hands-on experience, problem-solving, and a calm, confident presence that helps clients actually enjoy their day.

What began with a backyard birthday party has become a career I truly love. Whether it’s an intimate elopement or a grand celebration, I still approach every event with the same energy and care I had at five years old — because to me, every detail matters.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“One of the key challenges in event planning is keeping up with ever-changing trends. The industry evolves rapidly, from technology and design to guest expectations, making it both demanding and exciting to stay ahead. While it can be challenging to adapt, it’s also one of the most fun and rewarding parts of the job.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
People often ask me what my secret is—how I manage to plan weddings that feel so personal, so seamless, so full of heart. And the truth is, I don’t just plan events. I build relationships. I become part of the story.

What I’m most proud of in event planning isn’t just the timelines I keep or the stunning venues I coordinate. It’s the way I get to know each couple—their families, their quirks, their dreams—so well that by the time the big day arrives, I don’t feel like just the planner. I feel like family.

I’ve sat with brides as they chose their final dress fittings, calmed jittery grooms minutes before walking down the aisle, and shared quiet, emotional moments with parents seeing their children start a new chapter. I’ve cried during vows and laughed during toasts. And those moments stick with me—not because they were part of my job, but because they meant something real.

I put my whole heart into what I do. Every decision, every detail, is a reflection of the care I pour into each event. I believe that’s the key to truly successful celebrations—not just executing a plan, but investing yourself fully into making someone’s vision come to life.

That emotional connection—that feeling of being trusted, embraced, and welcomed into a family—is what I carry with me long after the last song plays. And that’s what I’m most proud of. Not just creating beautiful events, but creating meaningful experiences that people—and I—will never forget.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Weddings and events are never a one-person show. They’re built on collaboration, trust, and a shared vision. I may be the coach of my team, but without my key players—my fellow planners, coordinators, designers, and vendors—I’m just a person with a clipboard.

It truly takes a village to bring an event to life. From florists and caterers to photographers and DJs, every vendor plays a critical role in making the day unforgettable. The success of any event hinges on the strength of the team behind it, and I’m proud to work alongside some of the most dedicated, creative, and hardworking professionals in the industry.

When I collaborate with others, I do so with respect, clear communication, and a shared goal: to create an experience that’s seamless, meaningful, and beautifully executed. That’s the kind of teamwork that turns a vision into reality—and clients into lifelong memories.
