Conversations with Krissie Simek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissie Simek.

Hi Krissie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my journey in the wedding industry 20 years ago while studying psychology and working at some of San Diego’s top venues. After earning my degree, I immersed myself in the world of hospitality and events, leading planning and design from the catering side at a luxury hotel. Additionally, as I grew in the industry, I was invited to teach weddings and social events to undergrads at San Diego State University, which deepened my love for mentoring and the craft of event design. All of this experience laid the foundation for my true calling—creating unforgettable celebrations through thoughtful design and meaningful connection.

My dream has always been to build something that honored both my passion for creativity and my desire to be present as a mother and wife. White Lace was born from that dream over a decade ago and took off with more momentum and magic than I could have ever imagined.

Today, I’m incredibly proud to lead a truly magical team of women who share that same vision. We design with intentionality, often blending classic elegance with trend-forward artistry, and we value the emotional depth of each couple’s story. White Lace Events and Design, has become more than a company—it’s a reflection of everything I love: beauty, connection, leadership, and heart.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a dream come true in so many ways—but like any dream worth pursuing, the journey hasn’t been without its hiccups. There have been challenges, especially in learning how to grow a business while also growing a family. Balancing family, motherhood and entrepreneurship has stretched me in so many ways. Building the right team has required time, trust, and deep intentionality. Instead of resisting the waves, I’ve learned to ride them. Overall, any challenges have built me and led me to some of my most meaningful growth in life, business and myself. I no longer see them as challenges as struggles, but as seasons of refinement. They have taught me to lead with clarity, delegate with heart, and stay rooted in what matters most. Needless to say, every challenge has shaped the planner, the leader, mother, wife and the woman I am today—and for that, I’m truly grateful

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the founder and creative director of White Lace Events and Design, a luxury wedding planning and design company based in Southern California. We specialize in deeply personal, artfully curated celebrations that reflect the essence of each couple we work with.

What sets us apart is our unwavering focus on intentionality—both in how we design and in how we celebrate and guide our couples. I take the time to truly know my couples: their story, their quirks, their vision, and even what they didn’t know they wanted. That connection fuels every decision, from the flow of the day to the smallest design detail.

I’m most proud of the meaningful relationships we build, the extraordinary team of women who help bring it all to life and the caliber of clients we attract. We stay in our own lane by focusing on heart, artistry, and authenticity—and I think that’s what continues to make White Lace Events and Design feel timeless, elevated, and deeply personal.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, I absolutely believe in taking risks—especially when they align with your purpose and growth. Becoming the sole owner of White Lace nearly five years ago was one of the biggest leaps I’ve taken. It was a defining moment that pushed me into a new level of leadership, creativity, and personal fulfillment. It was a risk, but it lit a fire in me that hasn’t dimmed since.

We also take intentional risks when it comes to the clients we serve. If a couple doesn’t feel like the right fit for our process or values, we honor that. Saying no in those moments is its own form of risk—but it always pays off in clarity, quality, and the integrity of the work we deliver. For me, risk isn’t about recklessness, it’s about choosing alignment over comfort, and expansion over fear.
