Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Moua
Hi Kristy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my journey by posting on TikTok, where I shared my life experiences and personal issues, mainly dealing with keloid scars on my shoulder. I was born and raised in San Diego and love showing the many places my home offers! I’m still new to being a content creator. But I feel my content has connected with a growing audience, and I’ve discovered a supportive community. This motivates me to continue sharing my story and experiences, with the hope of helping others and growing both personally and in my social media presence.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles has been dealing with my insecurities, especially sharing personal issues like my keloid scars. Opening up about something so personal was challenging, but I knew it was important to be authentic. Another struggle has been growing my following. Getting noticed and building a community as someone still new to this can be challenging. Dealing with depression and anxiety has also been a significant challenge. Sharing these aspects of my life online has been a tough decision, especially since I’m a private person. I often debate whether to show myself and how much to reveal. Most days, I don’t feel like filming, and I try not to film content unless I am in a good mood because I feel like it translates through the video and won’t be enjoyable for the viewers. However, each small milestone and supportive comment motivates me to continue sharing my journey!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create content that focuses on sharing personal experiences and struggles, mainly dealing with insecurities like my keloid scars. My work specializes in authenticity and openness, aiming to build a supportive community for those who face similar challenges. I also love sharing places in San Diego to eat and visit!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I wish I had known the importance of patience and consistency when starting. Growing a following and building a community takes time, and getting discouraged is easy. Focus on creating content you are passionate about, reflecting who you are. I am slowly but surely trying to create more content and reminding myself that the sole purpose I started is to bring awareness to keloids and enjoy my life wherever it takes me!
