Conversations with Lori Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Miller.

Lori Miller

Hi Lori, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My family was in construction, and I always thought I would be an architect. During college, I switched majors to Psychology and ended up as a licensed mental health therapist running the Psychiatric units at Rikers Island, where I met my then-husband. While renovating my 1st house. My passion for construction was reignited, and I was offered a job in a paint store. Eventually, I returned to school and completed a degree in Interior Design, where I found my life’s purpose.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning how to run LGC as a business and not a hobby has been my biggest struggle. Production during our shutdown also presented many challenges.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I design interior spaces that inform and support well-being and visual appeal. I am known for creating spaces that are luxurious yet livable. Weaving a narrative of old-world charm and modern luxury into every space we touch. “It’s my commitment to create a well-designed space that is a personalized invitation into the world of design that is as unique as our client’s themselves

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see a tremendous shift into sustainability. More individuals are accepting of the use of feng shui, crystals, and essential oils. Most places will have a meditation room or designated space for mindfulness practice. The trend now is towards antiques and color, a more traditional design sense but with less clutter. A bridge between the past and present
