Conversations with Lucy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy.

Hi Lucy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my real estate journey back in 2002 as a receptionist at a real estate office, then quickly became a real estate assistant, and soon after I obtained my real estate license. I’ve been in the business since then working full-time.
I have really enjoyed this career because it has allowed me to be a mom, a wife, and a successful real estate agent.
The beauty of this business, is you can work a little or as much as you want, but that will reflect on your overall success.
Our business is so flexible with many distractions around you, that if you’re not discipline, it will not work for you.
I’m glad to say that during all this time, I’ve managed to find balance between my business and personal life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I would say have been being able to manage your money and always having savings.
Our income is based on commissions. One month you may close 1-3 sales and the next 2 months nothing.
That is why the importance of being bale to have financial discipline is a must in our business.
Luckily for me, my husband and I have been able to positively manage this part well because we are both on the same page when it comes to money and saving for a rainy day.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Real Estate agent serving all of San Diego County with over 21+ years of experience.
I specialize in residential real estate assisting both buyers and sellers.
Although most of half of my career has been helping buyers purchase their first home, which has been a great satisfaction.
I am bilingual and have lived in San Diego almost 40 years, originally from Tijuana B.C.
I am mostly proud of how far I’ve come, being the first homeowner in my immediate family, with now having purchased multiple properties and running a successful business that has set the road for generational wealth for my kids and grandkids. I am truly grateful for my blessings, but nothing was given, I have worked hard for it all.
What sets me apart is that I am a genuine, sincere, humble, fun, energetic, social, and caring person, people like being around me and that proves to me that I must be doing something right.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Choosing this career is already a risk…Real estate is heavily tied to the economy so the income instability is a risk.
There are no guarantees on time spent with clients, you can invest hours into a client or transaction that never pans out.
Work, life balance challenges because we work 24/7, Working some nights, weekends and last minute showings can disrupt personal time. Time management and setting boundaries is very important for a healthy real estate career.
