When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, it brought with it an unexpected surplus of free time. Rather than succumbing to the isolation, I chose to view this unique and challenging period as an opportunity to cultivate greater personal autonomy and the freedom to work from any location. I dedicated countless hours to intensive research and skill development, delving into master classes and consuming a multitude of educational YouTube videos. This learning journey continues to this day, and I am profoundly appreciative of the supportive community and opportunities that have flourished through my business endeavors and entrepreneurial lifestyle.

Embarking on this journey has been both rewarding and challenging. Like any path towards personal and professional growth, it hasn’t been entirely smooth. To start off, the transition to building personal autonomy and working from anywhere was a significant learning curve. Adapting to new tools, technologies, and methodologies took time and effort. Secondly, the entrepreneurial landscape is highly competitive. Standing out and carving a niche for myself in a crowded market presented a constant challenge. Additionally, with so many resources available for learning, it was sometimes challenging to strike a balance between acquiring new knowledge and applying it effectively.

Certainly, confidence and surrounding yourself with driven and hardworking individuals are key elements in finding a mentor and building a successful network. Confidence begins with self-belief. Trust in your abilities and the value you bring to the table. Recognize that you have unique strengths and perspectives to offer. Additionally, building a network and finding a mentor often requires stepping out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to new people, attend events, or reach out to potential mentors. When approaching potential mentors or networking events, be prepared. Know what you want to achieve and practice your introduction and key points to ensure you communicate effectively. It’s also important to remember rejection is a natural part of networking and mentorship-seeking. Rather than being discouraged by rejection, view it as an opportunity to learn and improve your approach. Lastly, choose your circle wisely. Evaluate your current circle of friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. Seek out individuals who are ambitious motivated, and share your goals and values.
