Today we’d like to introduce you to Mars.
Hi Mars, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
So, I’m in a band called Paintings and have a DIY collective called Orbital Events. As a child, I was very interested in music and performing arts. I sing, play guitar, bass, keys, and drums. I have always been interested in music, but I didn’t expect to be involved so much in the local music scene. Orbital Events has been around since 2017 but has really been more active recently. We started doing remote interviews for local artists and bands during the pandemic. My band Paintings formed during the pandemic as well, and it started as my friend and I sharing song ideas with each other through video calls! This developed into us releasing our debut single Sober which you can stream on Spotify or any other streaming platform.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some challenges that I’ve faced as a musician/ bandmate/ independent promoter are mainly directly linked to the covid- 19 pandemic. It has been difficult to meet up with people to practice, and there is always the issue of what is the most responsible way to handle event planning during this time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a musician/ songwriter and an independent music promoter/ show booker /event planner.
I am most known for my ability to set up and promote shows and spread the word about artist’s and bands’ releases.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’m always happy to see others succeed, so I do my best to make it happen.
I consider myself very lucky to be part of a community of musicians, artists and creatives that support each other!
Also, music makes me happy whether it’s playing or listening to it. It’s something I always have and always will enjoy.
