My name is Micah Woldenga, and I am an 18-year-old entrepreneur that owns and operates Woldenga Cleaning, a successful vacation rental cleaning company that has been in operation for four years. From an early age, I embraced an entrepreneurial mindset, launching a variety of small businesses—from a bracelet venture and a landscaping company to stock market trading. Each of these experiences has shaped my understanding of business and my approach to challenges. I have been incredibly fortunate to have a supportive network of family mentors, including my mother, grandfather, and grandmother. Their guidance has set my path, but above all, I credit my success to Jesus Christ, whose strength and wisdom have inspired me along this journey. Soccer has also played a significant role in my life. I’ve been a soccer player since I was five, participating in club and high school teams. While soccer has always been a cherished hobby, it has taught me important lessons about teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—qualities that I apply in my business endeavors. The idea for Woldenga Cleaning emerged during high school when I observed the poor cleaning services in vacation rentals managed by my mom. This gap in the market ignited a new entrepreneurial spark in me. Since graduating high school in June 2024, I have devoted myself entirely to the growth of Woldenga Cleaning. I am excited to share that we are currently in the process of signing contracts with multiple large vacation rental companies in San Diego and the Temecula Valley—two highly sought-after destinations. While I have chosen not to pursue a traditional college education, I believe my real-world experience and dedication to my business will provide the knowledge and skills I need for success. My goals include continuing to expand Woldenga Cleaning and eventually venturing into real estate, inspired by my mother’s successful career. I am thrilled about what the future holds and am eager to continue this journey of growth and innovation.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Reflecting on my entrepreneurial journey, I must admit that it has certainly not been a smooth road. Like any venture, there have been numerous bumps and obstacles along the way. Each day presents its own set of challenges, and I’ve learned that resilience is key. One of the biggest hurdles I face is dealing with doubt—whether it’s from others or moments of self-doubt that creep in. Being turned down or facing criticism is an unfortunate part of this roller coaster ride we call entrepreneurship. Despite these challenges, I embrace the belief that everything happens for a reason. Each setback and obstacle serves as a learning opportunity, a chance to grow and adapt. I draw strength from my faith in the Lord, which helps me navigate these ups and downs. This perspective allows me to view each experience as part of a larger plan, reassuring my commitment to learning and growing in both my business and personal life. Ultimately, I believe that it’s the challenges we face that shape us into better individuals. My journey has taught me the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and faith, and I carry these lessons with me as I continue to grow Woldenga Cleaning and pursue new opportunities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I wouldn’t attribute my achievements or setbacks to luck. Instead, I view everything I encounter—both the good and the bad—as blessings from the Lord. This belief is essential to my approach to life and business. In my journey as an entrepreneur, I’ve experienced moments of success that might appear to others as “lucky”. However, I recognize that these moments are often what comes in return of hard work, dedication, and the guidance I receive through my faith. Similarly, when I face setbacks or challenges, I don’t see them as random strokes of bad luck. Instead, I approach these experiences as lessons. Each obstacle teaches me something important. This mindset transforms potential disappointments into opportunities for growth. Ultimately, I believe that a positive perspective can significantly change our experiences. By viewing life through the lens of blessings rather than luck, I remain open to learning and evolving. This perspective fuels my passion for my work and pushes my commitment to my goals. As I continue this journey, I strive to embrace each moment—good or bad—as part of a plan, allowing my faith to guide me toward future success.
