Conversations with Michelle Toerge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Toerge.

Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Burbank, CA. My parents divorced when I was 2 years old and I grew up in a very unstable household. My mom was working full time, my dad was living with his new girlfriend, and my older sister of 5 years wanted nothing to do with me. I grew up going to a private school my whole life and in and out of the church, but my family never had strong values around health or finances. I watched both my parents struggle a lot with money as well as addictions. My sister was in and out of rehab and abusive relationships. I watched poor health all around me and knew there was more out there. I played sports growing up and tore my ACL my senior year of high school. This is when my passion for health and fitness really took off. I always enjoyed fitness, but through my ACL recovery I really saw how important our physical health is. I went off to college at SDSU and studied kinesiology because my passion to help others was so strong. I soon after changed majors and graduated with honors with a BA in Communications. I began working in hospitality as a way to stay living in San Diego, and I continued to work out daily and prioritize my fitness. After a couple years in hospitality, I found it wasn’t a career that aligned with my health values or my life purpose. I felt lost and uninspired and my spirit yearning for something so much more meaningful. I then injured my hip and found myself back in physical therapy where my physical therapist suggested I become a personal trainer. I went on to become a certified personal trainer through NASM and shift my focus to showing others who are injured that they can get back into fitness in a safe and healthy way. My passion shifted to help others feel confident in their bodies and know they are capable of doing anything, with the right support system and self belief. In 2022, my sister had a brain hemorrhage and stroke and everything in my life changed. I realized I needed to work for myself so I did not have to ask anyone for time off to be able to visit my sister while in the ICU for months. This led me to start working online selling high quality water ionizers and health products that also involved a large compensation plan. I saw an opportunity to really help others change their physical and financial health and also an opportunity to provide financially fully for my sister and my kids to come. This experience with my sister also lead me to yoga and sound healing. I found so much peace with sound healing and community I so badly needed with yoga. I went on to become a yoga teacher and certified sound healer and reiki healer. I also started my wellness coaching business which encompasses hydrogen rich water, working out, mindset work, yoga, and other alternative healing modalities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle along the way was believing in myself enough to leave my 9-5 job. Other struggles have included funding for everything since I am completely on my own financially and support from others. Especially my parents, they have had a hard time with the transition and my choice to begin my own business rather than sticking it out in the corporate world.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work with alternative health practices to help others unlock their potential. I am known for working with living water and coaching. I incorporate weight lifting, yoga, breath work, meditation, nutrition, hydrogen rich water, mindset work, and sound/ reiki healing in my coaching. I work with my clients on their habits and showing them how their actions and habits are shaping their future outcomes. I help others live an alternative lifestyle and earn an income fully online, while pursing their passions and health. On the weekends you can catch me vending at local farmer’s markets selling sea moss, which is something I am extremely passionate at and teaching yoga at a local studio. Anything health and wellness related, I’m doing it and I’m your person to connect with!

I am most proud of my devotion to myself and my growth. Life has not been easy and every step of the way I have carried myself and strived to be better. Even at my lowest, I was incorporating habits and small changes I knew would propel me forward. I have never quit on myself, even though I have wanted to a lot, and that I am really proud of. I want to show others they can do this as well and be the example for all.

What sets me apart from others is my deeply feeling heart. I have a big heart and I lead with that in everything I do.

How do you think about luck?
I believe God has played the role in everything.
