Conversations with Morph Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morph Designs.

Morph Designs

Hi Morph, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m T, the designer behind Morph Designs! I’ve always had a passion for art and creativity from a young age, and about two years ago, I decided to dive deeper into graphic design. Although I earned my degree in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz, I always knew my true calling was in a creative field. My design journey actually began in high school, where I created visuals for the clubs I was involved in and through various marketing internships. Two years ago, I had the amazing opportunity to transition into a full-time graphic design role, and since then, I’ve been taking courses to refine my skills and grow as a self-taught designer!

As a woman and a minority, I am deeply passionate about using my art and design work to uplift and represent other women, as well as first-generation individuals, through creative expression.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey into graphic design has been anything but linear. As an Asian-American raised in a traditional Vietnamese household, pursuing a career in the creative field was not a typical path. The primary reason I went to college was to meet the expectations of my family, and to honor the responsibilities of being a first-generation high school and college student. However, everything shifted when I became a mom at 21. It was then that I realized I needed to pursue my own dreams—not just for myself, but to set an example for my daughter. I wanted her to see that with determination, anything is possible, and that while there may not be a single, clear path in life, the power to shape your future is in your hands.

As a self-taught graphic designer, one of my biggest challenges has been overcoming imposter syndrome. There are moments when I wish I had attended design school, but I’ve come to understand that everyone’s journey is unique. Each day, I work to build my confidence and continuously hone my skills.

Looking back on my journey, I recognize that this is just the beginning. The obstacles I’ve faced have only strengthened me and continue to drive my growth. I’m so excited for the future and the opportunities ahead to continue evolving both as a designer and as an individual.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The word Morph represents transformation, and through my business, I help businesses bring their creative visions to life. Specializing in branding, illustration, and website design, I’m passionate about helping business owners not only establish their brand but also create meaningful connections with their customers through art.

What I’m most proud of is seeing a project come to fruition. A recent example is a website I designed for a daycare in Irvine, California. As a mom, it was especially rewarding to watch my client’s vision take shape and see their daycare come to life in such a beautiful way.

What sets my business apart is its personal touch. I am the sole person behind Morph Designs. From design to administration to accounting, I handle every aspect of the business. This allows me to offer a highly personalized experience, ensuring that every client’s needs are met with care and attention. Of course, every designer has their own unique approach to bringing creativity to life, and for Morph Designs, that means delivering custom, one-of-a-kind designs that you won’t find anywhere else—every design is created from drafts!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I am deeply grateful for the support and love of my small but incredible family—my daughter and her dad. Growing up, I often felt isolated from my extended family due to a lack of love and support. Having a strong support system has been essential in helping me to stay motivated and push forward.

I also want to express my gratitude to all the clients I’ve worked with. Their kindness and encouragement have been invaluable. Running a freelance business can be daunting, but through meaningful conversations and collaborations, I’ve not only improved my skills but also developed a deeper understanding for others.
