Conversations with Outside The Frame

Today we’d like to introduce you to Outside The Frame .

Hello Outside The Frame, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are a rock band from San Diego, CA. Our inspiration ranges from the latest rock acts Royal Blood, Queens of the Stone Age, and Muse. Our music is out on all platforms, you can check us out at outsidetheframeband.com, and you can find our Instagram @outsidetheframeca. The band has paved out a new sound, which is going to be a pretty big genre shift. The newest single that we have recorded is called Carousel, and that will be the start of this new era for the band. We hope you stay tuned; we intend for the song to release in late August of this year.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Covid-19 halted all momentum that we had. Not playing shows for a year was a very hard reality, especially since we were still in our infancy phase. So, with nothing else to do, we got to recording new songs, and we released an EP in April 2021. Soon after, we met our newest Drummer, Danny Cozmos, and we played house shows and bigger gigs that eventually lead up to becoming the opening act of Greenfest 2022 in the Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater. We were the direct openers on stage before Gunna. From this launch point, we have amassed an SDSU following, his is the new start to our journey, and the next chapter is going to be opened with Carousel, which will hopefully be released soon. After the pandemic hit, we made a comeback that propelled us to quickly emerge to the top of our college scene.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a rock band that performs original songs. We are a three-piece band comprised of Guitar Bass, and Drums, while also incorporating electronic elements to give us an edge on the other acts that are from San Diego. There is not a lot of Electronic-Rock that is coming from the San Diego area, and there are few popular bands in our genre. We are serious about our music, and we want to take our careers to the next level.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
As an artist, your innate tastes and talents are what define you, so don’t try and downplay those aspects. There are a lot of people who strive to be the best in certain areas of music, and there is sometimes a lot of elitism that harms creativity. Be yourself, but also realistic about what areas are where you need improvement.
