Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Wilson.
Hi Peter, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing guitar and writing songs when I was 13 years old. Since then, I’ve grown to love it more and more and am now beyond grateful that I get to do it for a living. Like most kids who pick up an instrument, I just started playing music by myself in my bedroom. Eventually, that led to playing with friends in someone’s garage and some small music venues. Fast forward to today, and I have the pleasure of playing guitar for several amazing artists, as well as writing and producing music for myself and other local musicians.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s been some bumps along the way. Like with any artistic outlet, there are countless days where self-doubt takes over. You spend your days pouring yourself into these projects and then when you look back and aren’t happy with what you see, it can feel like a kick to the stomach. You start to question if you’ve made the right decisions your whole life or if you’ve just been wasting your time. The important thing is that you just keep pushing through when those feelings set in. I always think I’ll get to a point in my career where those feelings don’t exist anymore but the truth is they’ll always be there. Just keep moving forward and eventually, you’ll land back on your feet again.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Musician, Songwriter, and Music Producer based in San Diego. While I cast a large net in terms of what I do professionally, most of my work comes in the forms of freelance guitar work, Music production, and playing music at Weddings and corporate events.
I released an album earlier this year in October titled “Autumn”. It’s currently available wherever you stream your music. I also have a few new singles in the works for early next year.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The music industry is an ever changing beast. Who knows what it will look like over the next 5-10 years. Hopefully by then there is a shift in how streaming revenue is distributed. It’s getting harder and harder to make a living as a musician these days.
