Conversations with Radie Vee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Radie Vee.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am originally from Pensacola, Florida. My father did 26 years in the Marine Corps which brought us here to San Diego California in the early 90s. Though I’m not a San Diego native, growing up in San Diego was an awesome eye opening, multicultural experience. With my father being a Puerto Rican man, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and my mother being a southern belle from small town Pensacola, Florida, my upbringing was a mix of Latin, African-American, and Southern California culture. I myself, joined the military as well and now I take all of those experiences and share them on my daily lifestyle vlogging channel on YouTube!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a lifestyle vlogger, my goal is to authentically connect with my audience. That’s easy to do when sharing fashion tips, recipes or travel experiences, but it can sometimes be nerve-racking/challenging to share moments of life that aren’t so “pretty”, such as divorce and some of the challenges of single motherhood. My YouTube supporters or (“Vee Bees” as I refer to them) have shared life’s ups and downs with me over these past few years that I have been on YouTube.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a lifestyle/fashion and travel vlogger. I curate long form video content based on real life. I like to take the viewer through a typical day of a girl living in southern California, sharing stories, recipes, fashion tips, ideas, and opinions. Viewers have given feedback on how much they enjoy my authenticity and humor. They enjoy how my personality naturally shines through and captivates the viewer. Supporters notate how “raw“ my vlogs are. Content nowadays can feel very un authentic, so I try to reverse that by entertaining viewers with a raw, unfiltered vlogging style.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was very shy. Until I was about 13. I spent the first 13 years of my life, observing, listening, and analyzing. By the time I was about 13 I had formed very strong opinions about the world around me. When I finally did open up and start sharing my personality, I did it with wit and humor. I was on the cheerleading squad all throughout high school and the first two years of college. Then, and now, I had an upbeat, bubbly “cheerleader” type of personality. I’ve always been very into music. I’ve always had a deep passion for soulful R&B rhythmic sounds and empowering, positive hip-hop music. While attending Montgomery high school in South San Diego with a large percentage of Spanish-speaking students, without effort, I naturally picked up how to understand and communicate in Spanish, which grew my love for Latin music well.
