Conversations with Ruby Medina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Medina.

Ruby Medina

Hi Ruby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back in 2015, I found myself navigating the whirlwind of first-time motherhood while juggling a full-time job and family business. It was a demanding lifestyle with an odd schedule, and it often felt like no one truly understood the unique challenges I faced. Despite joining mommy meetup groups, I struggled to connect with other moms who shared my journey.

Feeling a sense of disconnect, I yearned to create a supportive community where women like me could thrive in both motherhood and entrepreneurship. Drawing upon my background as a content creator with experience in events and marketing, I envisioned Las Mamacitas—a platform that would not only bring moms together but also introduce them to the world of business in an organic and empowering way.

Las Mamacitas became more than just a community; it became a haven where moms could network, learn, and grow alongside their little ones. By merging my passions and expertise, I set out to create a space where moms could find solidarity, inspiration, and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Today, Las Mamacitas is open to all women wanting to step out of their comfort zone. Not just mothers. It’s truly a testament to the power of community and the entrepreneurial spirit of women of women!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Navigating the growth of Las Mamacitas has been anything but smooth sailing. Mentally and physically exhausted, I found myself facing burnout—a common struggle for founders who pour their hearts into creating the best experience for their community while neglecting their own well-being.

As founders, our enthusiasm often blinds us to the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care. We’re driven by the desire to be everything to everyone, to create unparalleled experiences for our community, and in doing so, we neglect ourselves in the process.

However, through the trials and tribulations, I’ve learned valuable lessons. I’ve come to realize that not every opportunity is worth pursuing, and saying no is just as important as saying yes. I’ve learned to listen to my body and mind, to recognize when I need to step back and recharge. It’s been a journey of self-discovery and growth, one that has reshaped my approach to entrepreneurship and leadership.

While the road may have been rocky, every challenge has been a lesson, and every setback has been an opportunity for growth. As we continue to evolve and thrive, I am grateful for the resilience and determination that have carried us through the toughest of times. Together, we are not just building a community—we are building a legacy of strength, perseverance, and self-care.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Las Mamacitas is more than just a venture; it’s a shared vision between Janet Gomez and me. Together, we’ve crafted a community that has become an integral part of our lives and our mission. While I don’t confine myself to specific titles, my role revolves around marketing and community building, all done in an organic manner through carefully curated events.

What sets Las Mamacitas apart is our commitment to providing a welcoming space where women can truly be themselves. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and empowered to connect face-to-face. Our events are designed to be inviting, even for those who may be new to networking, leaving them feeling inspired and more outgoing than when they arrived.

One of our proudest achievements is the lasting friendships and collaborations that blossom at our gatherings. These connections go beyond a single event, evolving into lifelong bonds and fruitful partnerships. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the impact our community has on the lives and careers of the women who participate.

At Las Mamacitas, our mission goes beyond mere networking; it’s about fostering genuine connections, inspiring growth, and creating a supportive ecosystem where every woman can thrive.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One of the most surprising aspects that people working with Las Mamacitas might not know about me is the scale of our operation. Despite the perception that we have a sizable budget and a large team, the reality is quite different. Our events are curated by either our team of two or even just by one of us. We pour our hearts into creating memorable experiences, often with limited resources and the collaborating efforts of other small women-owned businesses and national brands wanting to reach our audience.

While we may not have a huge budget or team currently, I believe in the potential for growth. One day, Las Mamacitas will indeed have the resources and support to match the scale of our dreams. But until then, we’ll continue to pour our passion into every event, proving that big things can happen even with limited resources.
