Hi Sarajevo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Surf & Soul Spot was birthed with love through its founder and Co-Owner Chef Sarajevo Amor in 2019. After a 13 year career with Hyatt Hotels, there being blessed to develop her God-given gift, Chef Sarajevo launched out to create this Soul Food Seafood takeout restaurant with the aid of her Godparents and immediate family. Getting its humble beginnings as a pop-up in a church kitchen, Surf & Soul has grown to become a culinary favorite, featuring a menu that celebrates black culture with a SoCal flare. It’s “Surf Menu”, Monday-Wednesday, features creative seafood items and the “Soul Menu” Friday-Sunday has more traditional Southern items and our signature Lemonades. Now owned by partners Chef Sarajevo and NFL favorite and Entrepreneur Sergio Bailey II, Surf & Soul is aiming to continue in culinary excellence, superb service and most of all a loving hug in every bite!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth not at all… but worth it. With faith in Jesus Christ we have been able to maintain great customers, employees and a great relationship with our neighborhood.
After COVID, price fluctuations and availability of goods was a bit challenging but by the favorite of God we were able to continue.

I love food. I love creating good food. My creativity comes straight from God. He allows me to bless people with the gift He’s given me.
We strive to offer hearty, delicious meals that bless people and that are worth their hard earned cash.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with great individuals who carry our culture of service and kindness to our customers.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the freeway system funny enough. I’m never in traffic because of the flow of where our shop is.
I grew up here so there’s not much I don’t like, however as diverse as we are I wish we were more diverse.
