Conversations with Savannah Beauchene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Beauchene.

Hi Savannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve always been interested in anything creative, whether it is painting, event planning, writing, jewelry making, you name it! I used to take any art class available in school, and I was always doing an additional project of some sorts at home too. As I got older and social media became more popular, I started to gain in interest in it, but I wasn’t quite sure what path I wanted to take because “influencers” or “content creators” just weren’t a thing yet.

I was born and raised in Southern California, but I’m now halfway through my college journey at school in San Diego, which is where my love for social media and creativity blossomed! My major is business marketing, and I hope to go into social media marketing or branding as a career while also working on my own personal brand! I looked into how I can combine my love for arts with social media, and that’s how I figured out what direction I wanted to take with my major. In addition to studying that, I began to assist the executive board members in my sorority with the social media, and now going into Fall 2023, I have my own board position for event planning, which has been my favorite thing!

I started doing my own personal content creation Fall of 2022 and now taking it more seriously in 2023; I can’t believe how much my personal brand has already grown! I remember when I first started, I made a list in my head of “dream brands” I wanted to work with, and I can proudly say I have accomplished those and many more! I spend time creating content on both Instagram and TikTok, where I focus on lifestyle, beauty, skin, and the college/sorority experience. It’s so important to me to stay consistent and true to myself online while also focusing on my college experiences! Check out my social media if you want to stay in tune with my life and new collaborations I have coming up!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the hardest struggles for me have been just comparing yourself to other people online. When I first started out, I would feel sad or unwanted if someone didn’t respond to an outreach email to work together or compare myself to other people I saw. But now as time has gone on, I find that I am so proud of myself and what I have accomplished whether it’s brands reaching out to me for partnerships or helping those who reach out to me for advice on their social media/college journeys. I just keep moving forward through the hard times, and it has proven that with time and patience, you can achieve anything if you work hard.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I create content on both Instagram and TikTok where I focus on lifestyle, beauty, skincare, and college/sorority experiences! Most of my audience is women 18-24, so I feel like many can relate to my videos or photos because we are around the same age and interested in the same things. I have had amazing opportunities from that have stemmed from staying consistent on social media, including several modeling photoshoots, continuous paid/gifted brand collaborations, and even recognition from incoming freshman at my college who are more interested in the college and sorority life after seeing my videos!

A thing that sets me apart is that I treat my audience like my friends! So, I always try and respond to comments, engage with others online, and just be 100% genuine in my content online. A lot of social media platforms are filled with people who set unfair beauty and life expectations and so I just try to be authentic and relatable. At the end of the day, I’m just a 20-year-old girl who is going through the same things as everyone else is!

Also, in addition to my own personal brand on social media (ssavannahbeau on Insta & TikTok), I have a small business where I make handmade jewelry! There are so many premade designs to choose from as well as the chance for my customers to get a custom order made. The Instagram page for that is @stackedbysav if you are looking to order some jewelry for summer or just looking for a new accessory!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One thing that has impacted my life that I didn’t know I needed was a Professional Business Development course I just took last semester of college. Not only did I have an amazing professor who has impacted me positively for the rest of my life, but we had the opportunity to have 1-on-1 coaching sessions where I was able to develop a sense of ambition, goal setting, and overall learn so much about the business world and how I can work my social media branding into that (shoutout Carleen and Professor Perri!). I learned how to network with professionals, build resumes, and more; this class was the best! NEVER STOP NETWORKING! Whether you do informational interviews, engage with coworkers, or talk to someone random on the street, you never know what amazing connections you might make with people who can help you grow!
