Conversations with Savannah Mares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Mares.

Hi Savannah, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved to entertain, make people laugh & challenge myself with becoming different characters. Because of this, my family put me into acting and modeling at the young age of 8. Ever since then acting and modeling have been my passion, all I want to do in life and what I have been focused on my whole life.

I did it throughout high school and of course, had to take a break due to the awkward puberty stages but I picked it right back up in college. I quickly realized college wasn’t for me and decided after my associate’s I was going to save and finally make the move to LA to pursue my dreams.

In 2019 I made the move and was so excited to start my journey, it went well… for about four months. I finally was doing what I loved full time, making good money, meeting new people, and learning more than I ever had before. BOOM pandemic hit. I lost all my jobs, lost all my projects I had booked, and quickly lost all my money I had saved up due to it. I somehow managed to live in Hollywood the entire pandemic and never had to move back to Arizona. Hardest two years and most I had ever lost, took some reallllll big setbacks, and now starting all over again, or so it feels like.

Now 2022, I have a great acting coach and new agents, and on the lookout for new managers and a great team that can get me back to the top. I know now more than ever that this is the career I want and continue to pursue.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has been the farthest thing from a smooth road. I’ve been scammed, lied to, lost money, and promised so many things and opportunities that never happened. I’ve been the lead in movies just for the film to never come out and never get the footage. I finally moved to LA and booked a pilot TV show & film just to then lose it all due to the pandemic. I’ve had so many setbacks yet I keep going because I know this is all I want in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am actress, model, creative director, and podcaster. I love anything creative whether that be in front or behind the camera. I love making people laugh and helping other creatives bring their visions to life. I’m most proud of my creative eye and my ability to see many different perspectives. I’m set apart from others because I wear every hat, I love to direct but I equally love being in front of the camera brining the story to life. I love to make the mood boards and create my own story then also be the one to perform or even cast others that would fit the role better.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I love listening to podcasts on mental health and how to stay positive and passionate. I also love to just listen and watch other actors talk about their journey and how they got to where they are. It all gives me hope and happiness that others are able to achieve their dreams.
