Today we’d like to introduce you to Semaj Johnson.
Hi Semaj, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My friends call me fated. I started making music in a studio 2015 – 16. I started with a collective called LoserTrybe. I’ve always been into the artistic side of things and started doing merch drops in 2016. “Loser” shirts. I eventually merged into a collective called The Other Side or TOS in 2018 and that’s when the drops started becoming more frequent. As of lately, it’s been hats.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I dropped out of high school and moved locations so I lost touch with a lot of my daily peers and like-minded creatives so my inspirations creatively started to dwindle.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I kinda just do me. I know it’s cliche but it’s true. Not many opinions mold me. Compliments are appreciated but even those honors are just for the moment. I love surprising myself. Fashion comes naturally but the music scene is where I’m at. Very melodic for sure a ladies man 😂
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Keep loved ones close. We’re really only here for the time being.
Me time is key.
