Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Wrosz.
Hi Sylvia , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The start of my personal brand Sylvia Sessions really came from my desire to help more people.
I actually found balance in my life as a property manager who also teaches fitness. My full time job became very flexible after 2020 and the pandemic and allows me to make my own hours, so I learned to offset the stress by prioritizing mental health by way of movement in my life.
Being an extremist all-or-nothing person, I kind of had to take on fitness as a job to make sure it would stay integrated into my life. (Vive Con Huevos!) But once I started teaching, it became so rewarding that I wanted to find a way to touch more lives. Being one, single person wearing many hats: I had to figure out how to do that without overloading on classes, as is customary for most instructors to experience at least once in their career.
I’ve always hated the noncompetes in fitness contracts (which technically aren’t even legal) and the competitiveness in the industry in general. Fitness should be accessible. Whether you own a luxury studio/ boutique studio or teach in a community space, I think we all share the same goal — to help people feel better through movement, while finding connection. There’s room for everyone, and the real magic happens when you find the right people for the kind of community you’re trying to cultivate. But everyone is different, every community is unique; or… it should be.
Sylvia Sessions came to life because I realized that through consulting and teaching globally, I could reach even more people — not just in my classes, but by helping other studios thrive, too. That means helping people I may never meet, but who still deserve the chance to heal, to move, and to belong.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not in the slightest! Is it ever?
The first studio I ever taught at was so wonderful. The owner is a dear friend, and I respect her so much — both as a boss and as a studio owner. She left no leaf unturned and thought of everything in that space. From sound to amenities, lighting, and operations, every detail was intentional. When she closed the studio, it ended up being an opportunity for growth, because I would have never left Pure on my own.
Everywhere I taught after that showed me that not everyone is that detail-oriented — and that some people also just don’t know what they don’t know. I always tried to offer advice to the studios I worked for because I had seen what truly elevated the client experience and worked for the business. But that advice wasn’t always welcome.
I kind of became the “bull in the china shop” at some places — disliked for being loud or opinionated — yet, more often than not, those same ideas were later implemented and proven to work. It could be frustrating, but I’ve always put my whole heart into anything I commit to. If I’m on a team, I’m going to give it everything I have and do my best to be a valuable part of it.
I am currently and happily teaching at Verve Studios, where I teach cycling, sculpt, and a mixed-format class. Helping them integrate some of those ideas and seeing how much it impacted the members was incredibly fulfilling. I love the owner and team deeply, and it’s been amazing to contribute in any small way that helps create impact and community. I also have Drip Creative Studio as a client and will be teaching some of the formats I helped them incorporate into their offerings as well. Creating the wellness and fitness extension of the brand has been such a joy and the owner, Glad, is a dream client.
Leaving certain places was hard — because when you move on, you’re leaving behind a piece of your “WHY”. But the beautiful part of doing what you love is that people feel it. Many of my clients have followed me from studio to studio, and that means the world to me. It reminds me that the connections I’ve built — the people I value — have never really been lost along the way. And anything cleared is then space made for something incredible to present itself in its place.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a certified Health and Wellness Coach and Group Fitness Instructor. I specialize in teaching to the beat of the music because, growing up both a musician and a nerd, I know how powerful music — and then movement to it — is for the brain.
Through Sylvia Sessions, I get to incorporate both of these things at once to consult with clients on how to start, extend, or elevate their offerings and experiences. It’s so fun to be creative in so many ways. I help with organization, implementation, trainings, supplementals, events, retreats, creative directing, and truly so much more. I work front desk, I help clean — whatever means necessary to set a tone, set an example, and truly create exactly what the client needs and intended.
And intention is really what I am most known for. As I said, I cannot separate the “me” from anything I do — all or nothing. So even when I teach, I bleed my heart out. And I am honest to a fault, but I wasn’t always growing up. So now, when I show up on the podium and tell them that I am having a bad day, the people in the room just know that we are going to feel through things together. And it really creates such a beautiful connection to do so this way.
When the LA wildfires were happening, I knew many people who were affected, and it was a helpless feeling not knowing what one could even begin to do to help. Teaching while an event like that (or anything with a sad or melancholy tone) is happening is a delicate thing, in my opinion. It just doesn’t feel right to play, like, Cardi B… you know? So I played a fully instrumental playlist, and we rode to the beat of no words — because no words seemed appropriate. People often cry in my room, and I love that (I know that sounds so weird without context). But I think my authenticity and extreme vulnerability allow me to connect deeper without actually trying too hard or taking up too much of my capacity. Human connection, love, and empathy are beautiful things… and I just don’t take them lightly.
What’s next?
I am looking forward to planning events and a retreat next year for Drip Creative Studio. I am looking forward to my next client opportunity, and I am opening up to opportunities abroad to teach and connect, as was always the goal for Sylvia Sessions and my life. Part of the goal has always been to incorporate my love to travel; and frankly, the necessity to do so to connect with myself. As a daughter of two immigrants in the U.S., Polish and Mexican, I speak multiple languages and have a constant desire to be with my cultures or experience entirely new ones altogether, knowing firsthand how big and beautiful this world is.
The podcast that I am a part of, Vive Con Huevos, has also been a fun addition and huge blessing in my life this year. I love my co-hosts, and they have become such dear friends of mine. I am deeply invested in the success of that brand and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on Sylvia Sessions with it. It’s a platform that I think is, and can become, truly impactful for the Latino community. Obviously, that makes me extremely proud to be a part of as well.
