Today we’d like to introduce you to Takatoshi Osada.
Takatoshi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Influenced by my grandfathers since childhood, I liked drawing and beach culture. When I learned to play with bodyboarding and surfing, at the same time, I learned about the greatness and beauty of nature and the joy of riding waves. While I was doing that, I wanted to draw waves. As I continued to draw, I wanted to make my own waves and share them with people around the world who love beach culture. And a style that combines beach culture, drinks, and waves were born, leading to the current style.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It is not always possible to produce work smoothly in the necessary situations.
Sometimes good ideas come to me right away during meetings, I can’t see the answer, and sometimes I don’t know what to make. It is unpredictable where you will get hints.
For me, when I’m skateboarding, taking a shower, or washing the dishes, I sometimes get good ideas.
The important thing is that I have my own ruler and believe in my drawing style, but sometimes I have to break that style to get to something new.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Original hand-drawn illustrations are created with ballpoint pens and pencils, then scanned into a computer to create graphic designs. (Botanical patterns, original mascots, stickers, T-shirts, educational materials, business cards, signboards, banners, SNS banners, School spirit wear, promotional materials, etc.)
