Conversations with Taylor Krause

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Krause

Hi Taylor , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a born and raised second-generation San Diegan as my parents also grew up in San Diego where they still live in and run a successful small business.

I went to St. Vincent De Paul and Our Lady of Peace academy. I then went onto college not too far in Orange County at Chapman University, where I studied Chemistry and Environmental Science & Policy. I worked at NASA researching atmospheric science which brought me to field of climate change.

I moved to Washington DC in 2018 where I established a career as a clean energy lobbyist and attended grad school at Johns Hopkins to earn a masters in science for Energy Policy and Climate Change.

In 2023 I was ready to move back to San Diego but then got the opportunity to be on the cast of a Netflix dating show that was recruiting singles in Washington D.C. called Love is Blind. I figured it could be my last hoorah of dating in D.C. and then could just come home. Well spoiler alert I ended up getting married on the show and now live part time in D.C. and part time in San Diego.

I currently work at an environmental nonprofit full time but also monetize social media as a digital creator.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am very fortunate to have a family that is very supportive and has gone above and beyond to support me all my life’s endeavors (even getting married on a reality show). I’m certain that my road to my success would not have looked similar if it were not for them.

I have had struggles, everyone does, but I do believe that I have unique privilege growing up in a loving family, access to education, and in America’s finest city no less.

Because of my privilege I also therefore feel that I have responsibility to create a positive impact on my communities.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work in a technical field at think tank that generates techno-economic analysis on clean energy to inform decision makers but I also work in a more creative space as a digital creator in social media to share my life experiences, lessons, and passions (travel, fashion, marriage, health & wellness)

How do you define success?
I define my success as being a happy and fulfilled person; I’m less about external achievements and more about spending my time on tasks that bring me joy, fulfillment, wellbeing, and internal peace. I think those tasks aren’t necessarily a job but are a balance of things like having connections with my loved ones, supporting my body’s wellness, positively impacting my community, feeling inspired/creative, as well as financially stable.

I think that joy can look and feel differently at different stages of life, that makes sense to me; therefore my definition of success will evolve as well and won’t just be this ultimate linear process I achieve by a certain time. I still feel like I’m figuring it out
