Conversations with Terrance Hanson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Hanson.

Hi Terrance, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story as Terrance Nicolas Roy Hanson developed at birth, obviously yet that’s where the call of being trusted to responsibility for my family/lineage was cultivated. Just 2-3 months before I was born in St. Joseph’s hospital on the borderline of the cities of Orange & Santa Ana, my abuelo passed away. Leaving a huge hole of a Man figure behind as well as his name “Roy”. His absence in presence created a huge division within my enormous side of my mom’s family leaving 7 daughters behind & a wife who ended up raising &/or being a huge part of her daughters’ kids life.
From the stories shared with me bout the type of Man my abuelo was to some of the mannerisms they say we shared from my early age, I’ve always felt like he was with me. Especially as a spirit that has done & continues my best to be there to create foundation & generational wealth for my family/love ones. Through childhood & adolescence is where the tests were presented the most, observing from a young age a means of domestic & drug abuse from my parents that created a means of trauma & wounds one would have to tend to to truly have clarity within what this journey is for me & my family! The musical aspect came at a early age as well, hearing my momma repeat over and over to me that I asked for my naps to be scored by the art laboe show and the other elements playing upon the air during those times. Also remember going with my cousin Johnny and his mom to check out a drum set at a music store that fascinated me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road less traveled as they say hasn’t been a smooth road what so ever yet it’s been a journey one has found and developed much gratitude and appreciation for. From the early ages of observing domestic and drug abuse, talking to cops, being pushed aside or passions pushed aside due to generational trauma being the guiding force to the adolescent years living with a single mom that’s drugged out, stealing your video games to get a fix to making sure the house hold knew that one was on a bender with their bad mood & trouble one would create.
Resilience has always been something I’ve been good at yet acknowledging and standing in it more, has me innerstand more of how much a super power it is to keep going and believing in self even when one ain’t fully clear on what it is

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a producer/event coordinator. I’ve been producing since 2017 when I finally took the leap of faith at the age of 25. I was tired of being at a point of not believing in myself, following what my older brother wanted from me due to me timid ways I developed growing up through the chaos and instability. I ended up going into medical school and utilizing my financial aide to buy my first set of music equipment. Purchasing first my laptop, interface and bootlegging a copy of a DAW that I still utilize. The enjoyment and journey led me to purchasing my first sampler after winning a drum machine at The Low End Theory festival in 2015. Since then I’ve studied & worked to develop a name for myself through the albums & EPs I’ve created that pulls from my extensive experiences growing up & diggin into hip-hop & later the LA beat scene. Now 2025, I’ve been creating beats & accumulating XP musically for going on 10 years.
I’m probably most known for my work a part of the A Love Supreme music family based out in the IE. We are a pretty big collective that not just produces and releases music yet we also have been cultivating hip hop shows throughout the regions of the IE & LA for the last 3 years.
I’m very proud of all the music I’ve gotten to create with my love ones from the albums I was trusted into entirely producing “a happy hOHM” album w/ Dom Cruz, “Out Here, Over There” EP w/ WigFlippa, to the rest of the work with my brothas Johnny U, Joey Golden & more. Being able to include my love ones in everything I do from the solo LPs & EPs I drop to the various opportunities that present itself.
Making sure my expression of self is rooted in my most honest intentions is what I feels sets me apart as it creates an emotional resonance within the production I cultivate and the emotions within the lyrics my love ones scribe from.
Connection is everything which is the reason why my family life mirrors my music life. It’s all foundered in love, trust, vulnerability and healing

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Some of my favorite early childhood memories was with my second cousins. Again my family is huge so my cousin was like a mom to me always having me and my siblings over to spend quality time with her children. Through them, I was influenced heavily in the various arts of hip-hop (breaking/popping & djing) along with more clarity & influence within xicano/Mexican culture I derive from.
