The Brothers Grim / MC Brockly & DJ Hunts, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
A few years back and Hunts and I at the Pour House In Oceanside at this other Emo Night and we weren’t very impressed so we both looked at each other and said we can do better. Three years later, here we are.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been pretty good so far, but we’re definitely trying to branch out more across the U.S., and that’s been one of the bigger challenges lately.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As The Brothers Grim, we’re known for throwing the most high-energy emo parties all across North County San Diego. How do we do it? We create a space in the community where people can come together and truly feel like they’re part of something.
At every show, we always say: “Positivity is the activity, and gratitude is the attitude.” That’s what we stand for. Because it’s never about us — it’s about the people, the community, and everyone in the room. We’re all about bringing people together through emo music.
What matters most to you? Why?
The biggest thing that matters to us is making sure everyone feels like a rockstar at our parties. We love handing the mic off to the crowd and giving people what we call their “main character moment.”
