Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I have consistently had a strong desire to create and innovate. Over the years, I have been flooded with numerous ideas, but the lack of adequate resources got in the way. However, in 2020, with the onset of the COVID pandemic, I found myself with ample free time, which allowed me to focus on the resources available to me for generating additional cash flow.
Living in California, it has become apparent that relying solely on a single income is insufficient in today’s economy. This realization compelled me to seek out a venture that not only generated revenue but was also personally fulfilling and ignited a sense of joy and gratitude – something that wouldn’t feel like mere “work.”
Through self-assessment, I discovered my intriguing passion for fragrances. The pleasant and welcoming scent of fragrances has always given me satisfaction, be it in my home, car, or on my body. The confidence-boosting effect of compliments on my fragrance choices further reinforced this passion. It was evident to me that curating a product that would instill this same sense of confidence in others was my calling.
Driven by this newfound insight, I began my journey to create my own line of customized fragrance body oils. For three years, I dedicated myself to perfecting every aspect of these oils, ensuring they stood out in a competitive market. Starting with local pop-ups, I sought to introduce our products to the community under the brand name “Elevate Honey.” As demand and positive reception grew, we expanded our product line to offer a variety of bath and skincare products tailored for both men and women.
With hard work and determination, our business has thrived, selling over 5000 customized fragrance body oils in the past three years. As our reputation continues to grow, our products are now available in two local shops in Sacramento. We take pride in being a small business that is steadily but confidently progressing, and we are eager to extend our reach to more local stores and boutiques in the forthcoming months.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey of entrepreneurship has proven to be quite intriguing and has both unique challenges and rewarding moments. As an entrepreneur, you come to understand that business ventures undergo distinct seasons, with some periods bearing greater fruits than others, and maintaining a business while juggling the roles of a single mother, a full-time nurse, and a student presents significant challenges. The demands can be overwhelming at times. Yet, it is these challenges that serve as motivation to persevere, continuously push forward, and foster growth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full-time Nurse, actively engaged in both hospital clinics and the Emergency Department. I have a reputation for commitment to hard work and a drive to elevate my life continuously “Hence, Elevate Honey.” Among my friends and family, I am recognized as someone who knows how to make the most of every moment and consistently bringing a positive and enjoyable atmosphere to gatherings. Moreover, I am often sought after as a voice of reason, offering thoughtful perspectives and counsel in various situations.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When it comes to networking, I have discovered that engaging with fellow small businesses within the pop-up community has been instrumental in fostering meaningful connections and collaborations. By sharing information and resources with these like-minded entrepreneurs, I have experienced substantial progress in my business endeavors. This network has undoubtedly become a cornerstone of my business’s success and contributed significantly to its expansion.
