Today we’d like to introduce you to Toof Fairy.
Hi Toof, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Vocalist Vic Goodman and Guitarist Marco Martinez met and played in a band in high school prior to Tooffairy. Once that band (Bleacher Creatures) fell through we found drummer Wolfgang Warshaw and Bassist Yuri Ignatenko to begin a new project.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Adjusting from one band to the next was definitely a process. Disregarding that, we all seemed to click. We feared we couldn’t live up to the success of Bleacher Creatures but over time we’ve gained more momentum, confidence and stability than that band ever had.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re an art rock group inspired by The Breeders, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Broadcast. We feature intense percussion, roaring feedback, and strange tones. What sets us apart from local bands is Vics stage presence. She performs with a lot of emotion and captivates the audience.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
all of us are happiest when playing music, especially together. Yuri really enjoys films and the process of film making, Wolfgang is a family man and loves to spend time with his family and even includes us, Marco’s always happiest writing new songs, and Vic is happiest in her room listening to records or cutting out magazines for her wall. We also are all happiest when we’re together, doesn’t matter if we’re playing music or not.
