Today we’d like to introduce you to Trelle Brown.
Hi Trelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a single-parent household in rural Georgia in a small town named Vienna, also known as Dooly County. Living in a poverty-stricken area my entire life empowered me to turn my struggle into strength and purpose. I wanted better for myself, so I often dreamed of my plans after high school. My imagination has always been my superpower since I was a little girl – I loved telling stories to my imaginary friends from school. Visualizing who I want to become and believing it’s possible is what got me where I am today. Had I listened to my inner critic and let small-town syndrome overshadow my authentic self, I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in today. It took years of therapy and embarking on my healing journey. I had to undergo an intense process of unlearning and relearning. Hence, I feel so honored to show up in my fullness as a multi-passionate being who empowers women to show up for themselves and to be well. I get to fulfill my purpose through creativity, coaching and mentoring. This may take the form of helping high-performing women outsource creativity in their business or coaching women to practice self-care and wellness in their personal and professional lives. My mission remains the same – to provide a nurturing space that empowers women to activate their inner peace and cultivate wellness to operate in the fullness of their Divine purpose.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been far from smooth – I would actually describe my journey as a rollercoaster. I struggled with perfectionism for a while, which I later learned was due to underestimating my potential. The idea that things have to be perfect for me to start sometimes gets in the way, but I’ve learned to silence my inner critic and trust the process. I now fully embrace this statement: You don’t have to be amazing to start, but you have to start to be amazing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Secret Divinity is a powerhouse for creativity, self-care, wellness, and healing. I get to diversify my gift through creating, coaching, and mentoring. This may take the form of helping high-performing women outsource creativity in their business or coaching women to practice self-care and wellness in their personal and professional lives. I also create handmade self-care and wellness products, such as bracelets, positive apparel, natural bath salts, and more. I take pride in wearing many hats, such as CEO, Creative Director, and Artist, because I get to bring my whole self to my business while keeping creativity at the center. My gift – to uplift and inspire – sets me apart and allows me to do soulful work. My mission is to provide a nurturing space that empowers women to activate their inner peace and cultivate wellness so they can operate in the fullness of their Divine purpose. It lights my soul on fire and makes me proud.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID-19 Crisis taught me that the real crisis is toxic workplaces and systems. I learned that work should be a part of your life, but not your entire life. When we immerse ourselves in systems that are unsupportive of our mental health and well-being, we become ill. From personal experiences and speaking with clients, there’s an outcry for employers to see their employees as human. The Great Resignation was (and still is) very real. The crisis fueled my passion to expand my business by providing wellness workshops to corporations, with hopes to spread awareness of the importance of self-care and wellness in the workplace. Unfortunately, many people can’t resign from their jobs because the crisis also taught us about the financial stress families experience. However, folks still deserve to have a work-life balance regardless if they have the financial means to resign or not.
