Hi Trisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello I am a business owner in Carlsbad, California. When I was 18 I got licensed to do hair, I then had two children followed by 3 intense brain surgeries. Once I was fully recovered from my surgeries I went back to work by 24 years old. I moved to Hawaii where I lived 7 years and fell in love with barbering more than cosmetology so I went back to go to barber school to achieve a second license in the hair industry. In 2019 I moved to Southern California, because all of my family lives here and I knew if I was opening a business I would need support with my kids as a single mother. By 2021 I had my very first barbershop up in running in the heart of the business district in Carlsbad. It was extremely nerve racking as all of our nation was enduring covid precautions. I have now been open for 3 years and a huge part of my community. I have developed an amazing client base and still looking to fill up me and my barbers books more. I put plumbing in the location I am at so it is brand new barbershop location. I drop flyers everywhere, I hand out coasters with my business to local resturants and hand out business card air fresheners by the Tesla stations and car washes. I have two barbers that I hired and am currently looking for a third to join my team. We have a very strict professional hiring process to insure we only bring the best at steez fine barbering.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Between rents going up cam fees going up so many requirements for insurances. I have been broken into one time and the robber stole all my stuff from the shop.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Steez Fine barbering, you get consistency, we practice the same routine everytime. We fully consult with the client and use our professional advice as well as our creative advice ,shaving and haircutting is quite the art.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to bring good customer service back to California. To give people what they pay for and not rip them off. To give my society employment opportunities. To see kids grow in my barber chair ( they start in a booster and one day they come in taller than me!)
