Hi Twylla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing spices so I could save money to start a food truck. I ended up falling in love with spices instead. I began with the Sweet and Spicy Rub, and 5 years later I have 13 blends and 3 dinner kits. I currently do cooking demos, and I am expanding the essentials part of my brand with dessert toppings. I also have my top 5 sellers listed on Walmart.com.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, the road has definitely NOT been smooth. Growing a brand takes hard work and determination, as well as taking risks. Some of the ideas and projects were very successful, and some were not. The key is to take the successes and losses and learn from them both. There’s no room for failure because to fail means you don’t get back up. Fail also means First Attempt in Learning, which is not finite.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I consider making my spice blends as artistic and creative because it invokes many feelings and has the ability to please many, and to me, that’s what art does. I specialize in making people enjoy food, and I am most proud of that. I have a gift of getting a person who says, ” I don’t like fish” to them saying, “how can I make that at home?!” What sets me apart from others is my product is additive and preservative-free, as well as jammed packed with flavor. A little goes a long way!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Honestly, I spend a lot of time on Google. I look up recipes and food ideas to see how I can put my own spin in something, or come up with something new altogether. I also like looking at videos on YouTube for inspiration.
